Mid-Season ACC Team grades (part 2)

Part 1 Grades

Miami – A+

Miami is 6-0 (4-0) and ranked number 1 in the country. Yeah, there was a close game with FSU, but how can you give Miami anything less than A+ at this point?

Wake Forest – A+

What Wake Forest has done to race out to a 6-1 (4-1) top 20 start is nothing short of remarkable. Jake Dickert has done an amazing job with this Wake Forest team.

SMU – A-

SMU 5-1 (3-1) has been uneven in their play, but all their goals are still ahead of them: playoffs, trip to Charlotte, and a top 25 season. If you didn’t have SMU in the first half, it might be a lot harder to get them in the second half of the season.

North Carolina – A-

Who would have had North Carolina in this position, 4-2 (2-1) halfway through the season? They are a dark horse for the ACC Title game. Some thought Bill Belichick could be fired by November; now he’s done one of the better jobs in the ACC.

Virginia Tech – B+

Virginia Tech under James Franklin has had a nice 5-2 (2-2) start where the Hokies have shown flashes of their Frank Beamer era selves.

Pittsburgh – B

Pittsburgh went from A+ to B in 2 weeks. They were 5-0 and now 5-2. In a vacuum, that’s not bad, but this grade could keep slipping if Pat Narduzzi doesn’t find some answers at QB.

Boston College – B

Boston College with a B? Most pre-season picks had them 16th or 17th, and they are sitting 3-3 (1-2), which is quite respectable considering… Bill O’Brien has very quietly done a decent job with BC this year.

Virginia  – B-

Virginia hasn’t been awful, but at 4-3 (2-2) they haven’t been great. They’ve just kind of been OK so far.
