Virginia’s season is teetering on collapse.

After Virginia’s opening 34-8 win over NC State, there were whispers the Cavs could be an ACC contender. Since then, Virginia has gone 3-4 with just 1 P4 win. That was against winless in the ACC Syracuse.

Friday night in a critical home game against Duke, Virginia lost 19-16 to fall 4-4 (2-3).

QB Beau Pribula is starting to look really ineffective as a quarterback in the passing game, 15 for 24 with an interception. He hasn’t cleared 2000 yards passing in a month, and Virginia’s offense has stagnated. The Hoos are averaging just barely over 15 points a game in the month of October.

This defense is top 40 in the country, but it’s hard to win with those kinds of offensive numbers.

Now Virginia’s season teeters on collapse.

They are going to have to produce an upset along the way, or they will miss a bowl game. They will be underdogs against Wake Forest, probably favored against Cal, but again probably underdogs against UNC and Virginia Tech.

This would make the 2025 look like a fluke under Tony Elliot which would be Virginia’s 4th losing season in 5 years.

You know whose tenure that would remind me of? Dino Babers, who had that one special 10-win season at Syracuse surrounded by 5 losing seasons, but a 7-6 year, then his departure the next year.

So where does Virginia go from here? A promising season is starting to get away from the Hoos.
