Mid-Season ACC Team grades (part 1)

Boston College – C+

Boston College was picked 16th in the ACC. They are 3-3 (1-2) with a P4 win over Rutgers. This isn’t the greatest resume, but BC has given themselves a path to a bowl game. I would say they’ve slightly exceeded expectations in the first half of the season.

Clemson – C+

If you’re comparing Clemson to their dynasty run teams, it’s an F, but that’s not who they are anymore. They’ve lost the two games they were supposed to lose, and beat everyone else for a 4-2 (2-1). In that regard, it isn’t really that bad. Charlotte is still possible.

Louisville – C+

Louisville was expected to compete for a trip to the ACC title game looked great against Ole Miss, but 4-3 (3-2) is not where they were expected to be. They either look really good or really average.

NC State – C

At 3-3 (1-2) is never great, never truly awful but always just meh. The loss to Vanderbilt was a collosal choke choke job. I guess you give NC State a passing grade but nothing more.

Florida State – C

Florida State has had some moments this year, but the reality is they are the same team under Mike Norvell they’ve been the last 3 years. At 3-3 (1-2), they just flounder around trying to get bowl eligible.

California – C-

California has been a disappointment this season at 3-4 (2-2), but showed something beating Virginia Tech. What was that loss to UNLV and the no show to Wake Forest? There are rumors of locker room issues.

Stanford – C-

Stanford was expected to be terrible, and they are, but they did Georgia Tech with one inspired quarter of football. It’s a major rebuilding effort there for the Cardinals.

Georgia Tech – D

Georgia Tech has losses to Colorado and Stanford. The win over Duke keeps them from an F, but this team is a mess. Injuries or not, Brent Key has done a poor job with this team.

Syracuse – F

The Fran Brown shine on Syracuse is gone. You can’t be winless in the ACC at this point in the season.
