The ACC’s three biggest questions of week 8

The three biggest ACC football questions of the week. Here we go for Week 8

Does Miami’s defense rebound against Pitt?

Miami was able to survive Florida State, but the Noles exposed flaws in Miami’s defense. FSU QB Ashton Daniels has been inconsistent, but he torched the Canes for nearly 300 yards in the air. FSU WR Duce Robinson has over 100 yards receiving and 2 TDs. Miami’s defense needs to show something against a Pitt passing game that’s gone south since QB Mason Heintschel. I think Miami rebounds, but if the defense struggles, it could be time to raise some real concerns about Miami over the long haul.

Does Clemson stay in ACC Title Game Chase against Virginia Tech?

This is a very intriguing game between Clemson and Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech in James Franklin’s first year has been solid, leading the Hokies to a 5-2 start. Clemson has just 1 ACC loss, though. Given Clemson’s schedule, a run to Charlotte is not out of the question, but Clemson has to find a downfield passing game. Virginia Tech’s pass defense has been suspect, to say the least, ranking 94th in the country. If Clemson’s pass offense were ever to get going, against Virginia Tech would be it. I think we do see Clemson’s OC Chad Morris open things.

Does North Carolina keep things rolling against Syracuse?

North Carolina football has been one of the ACC’s biggest surprises so far this season. Sitting 4-2 (2-1) with a defense that just gives up a lot of points. Only 1 team has scored more than 28 points against the Heels. UNC has been on the road the last two weeks, and I like them to get to 5-2 (3-1) against a winless in the ACC Syracuse team. That would set up a mighty interesting game against Miami the week after. Keep an eye on this UNC team going forward.
