2011-2012 Virginia Tech Hokies Men’s Basketball Preview

Is this the year Seth Greenberg and the Hokies finally breakthrough and get to the NCAA Tournament? If you ask me and the NCAA Selection doesn’t, then you can’t convince they didn’t deserve a bid at least one bid since 2007. How do they look for this year? Contributing writer @HokieGuru has written an outstanding preview of the Virginia Tech …

Contributing writer HokieGuru is working on an article where he checks in several of our twitter friends for their feelings on the ACC at the mid-season point. What I’m doing here is you give some of my thoughts on the ACC up to this point. Surprise Team – Wake Forest Demon Deacons If you had Wake Forest 4-1 …

ACC Week 6 awards. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

This weekend provided probably the most stunning result of the ACC Season, Wake Forest 35 Florida State 30. Guess which team ends with a good award and which one ends up with an ugly one. Wake Forest the one that most folks had winning 3-4 games this year or the Florida State team that started …

Elimination weekend in the ACC

Week 6 is upon us, and I’m looking at this weekend in the ACC as elimination weekend. Clemson and Georgia Tech are your frontrunners, and mathematically anyone can still win either division, but I don’t see either team losing more than twice at most. Let’s take a look at the latest ACC standings.   Atlantic …

ACC sitting out latest round of conference expansion.

The latest expansion news is that TCU is set to join the Big 12. I think it’s a nice move for the Big 12. No matter what the Big 12 did, Texas A&M was too far gone to ever come back. TCU is a good football program whose inclusion in the Big 12 is a perfect …

Articles from around the ACC Blogosphere October 4, 2011

The first week of October starts with the Virginia Tech Hokies and Florida State Seminoles on a collision… oops wait scratch that. Make that the Clemson Tigers and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are on a collision course for ACC supremacy. FSU and Virginia Tech aren’t out their respective Division races, a little tougher for the …

Is this the year the BCS implodes?

Back during the 2004-2005 college football season 5 teams USC, Oklahoma, Auburn, Boise St. and Utah finished the regular season undefeated. We hoped it would lead to an end to the BCS. It didn’t. At the time only SEC Champion  Auburn was considered to have a legitimate gripe. This was before teams like Boise St. and …

ACC Week 5 awards. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

With Clemson winning the battle with Virginia Tech, the Tigers have become the favorite to the win ACC. Let’s not forget about Georgia Tech, as they moved to 5-0 on the season. UNC and Duke had a couple of decent of non-conference wins over East Carolina and Florida International. Most of rest of the ACC …

How should the ACC Realign when Pitt and Syracuse join?

When Pittsburgh and Syracuse joined the ACC, I thought the obvious choice of realignment of the conference would be a North\South Division. As I learned on twitter not all ACC fans are in favor of this. The possibility is that conference might turn into football vs basketball schools if that were to happen, leaving the …

One of the biggest games in the ACC will be Saturday at 6 PM, between two top 15 schools, the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Clemson Tigers. Virginia Tech has been the class of the conference since they’ve joined the ACC in 2004. That’s 4 ACC Titles in 7 years, 7 Straight years of 10 …

With the season nearing it’s halfway point, let’s find out who the fans think is the current leading candidate for player of the year in the ACC. Clemson and Georgia Tech: Breathing some life into ACC Football.

If you’ve been following ACC Football through the first 4 weeks of the season, it’s been uneven to say the least. For every win over an Auburn (Clemson) or Ohio State (Miami) there were embarrassing blowout losses to Temple (Maryland) and Cincinnati (NC State). Currently less than half the conference is over .500. Pre-season favorites Florida State and Virginia …

ACC Week 4 awards. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

I think when the season is over we’ll look at week 4 in the ACC, as separation week. There’s a clear line in the sand between the top and bottom half of the conference. Virginia Tech, Clemson, Florida State, and Georgia Tech have set themselves apart. North Carolina is not far behind. Others like NC …

5 Reasons the ACC Shouldn’t Expand Further… Unless Notre Dame wants to join.

It looks like conference expansion for 2011 is close to an end. This was brought about by the Pac 12 deciding they didn’t want to hassle of Oklahoma and Texas. For the ACC we’ve already covered their newest additions Pittsburgh and Syracuse. It was a great move by John Swofford and the ACC to solidify …
