1. #10 Miami 24 #2 Ohio State 14 – December 31, 2025
If you aren’t a fan of seeing the Miami Hurricanes having success, you may want to look away. Miami has ascended to the top of the ACC, and they have the wins to prove it on this list. For some, Miami was a controversial at-large selection; all Miami did was prove every one of their doubters wrong. In beating arguably the best program in college football the last 3 years, Ohio State, and a national title threat themselves, Miami validated the Texas A&M playoff win, and announced themselves as a team that could win the national championship. Unless an ACC team wins the national title, it’s going to be very hard to unseat this game as the ACC’s biggest OOC of the decade.
2. #10 Miami 31 #6 Ole Miss 27 – January 8, 2026
Miami’s magical run to the national title game continued with its heart-stopping 31 – 27 win over Ole Miss. Even though this was a CFP Semi-final win, the victory over Ohio State was more stunning. Miami was expected to beat Ole Miss, but it still needed this win to make the national title game. Beating Ole Miss kept the SEC from having a team in the national championship for a 3rd straight year. Even though Miami couldn’t quite defeat Indiana in the title game, Miami’s three straight playoff wins changed the perception of the Miami program going forward, and helped complete their ACC’s best post-season in nearly a decade. The victory also ensured the ACC had an 8-6 winning record against the SEC in 2025.
3. #10 Miami 10 #7 Texas A&M 3 – December 20, 2026
Miami’s run had to start their incredible run to the national title game somewhere, and it began in College Station, Texas, against Texas A&M. This was a defensive masterpiece in front of 100K Aggie fans. Miami forced 3 turnovers and held Texas A&M to under 350 total yards. It was the first playoff win for an ACC team since December 2020, and proved that an ACC team could produce a team capable of winning a playoff game. We just didn’t know at the time that there would be two more by Miami in the 2025 playoffs.
4. #10 Miami 31 #6 Notre Dame 27 – August 31, 2025
Miami, Miami, Miami, and more Miami on this list. They’ve earned it, too. Miami’s win over Notre Dame was the difference between the Canes making the playoffs and them missing it. The final playoff spot was down to Miami and Notre Dame, and this victory by Miami was the deciding factor – as it should have been. Miami showed in the game what they were capable of beating a very strong Notre Dame that should have made the playoff, too. The win set in motion the best season for an ACC team since at least 2020.
5. #8 Florida State 45 #5 LSU 24 – September 4, 2023
It was a top 10 matchup on a Sunday night, and Florida State made it look like it was 1990s Bobby Bowden Seminoles. Jordan Travis was the best QB on the field in a game that featured future 2023 Heisman winner Jayden Daniels. FSU dominated the 2nd half, outscoring LSU 31-7, and establishing the Noles as a playoff contender throughout the year. The Tigers went 10-3 and finished in the top 15, further legitimizing the quality of this win. It should have helped propel FSU into the playoffs after a 13-0 season, but the playoff committee turned the selection process into a complete farce. That said, it was still one of the proudest moments in recent Florida State football history.
