January 22, 2025 ACC Basketball Power Rankings

We also take a guess at where the NCAA tournament cutline should be.

Stats come from https://www.warrennolan.com/

18. Notre Dame (10-9, 1-5) NET 81, RPI 72

Last week: 14

Notre Dame has exactly no wins this calendar year. Boston College and Virginia are at home this week.

17. Pitt (8-11, 1-5) NET 120, RPI 168

Last week: 15

Pitt has 1 win this calendar year. They have NC State and Wake Forest at home this week.

16. Boston College (9-10, 2-4) NET 157, RPI 196

Last Week: 18

Break out Boston College, who’ve won 2 games in a row. They go to Notre Dame this week.

15. Georgia Tech (11-8, 2-4) NET 142, RPI 173

Last Week : 17

Where did Georgia Tech come up with that win at NC State? They play Clemson at home and head to Virginia Tech this week.

14. Florida State (8-11, 1-5) NET 116, RPI 147

Last Week: 16

FSU win at Miami was really surprising. Does FSU have anymore upsets anymore in them? SMU and Cal are this week, and better watch out.

13. Wake Forest (11-8, 2-4) NET 65, RPI 69

Last Week: 13

If Wake Forest could somehow win at Duke and at Pittsburgh, it might be able to get into the NCAA picture. I wouldn’t count on it.

12. California  (13-5, 2-4) NET 60, RPI 59

Last Week: 12

Cal’s win at UNC keeps their slim NCAA hopes alive. If they can get Stanford and FSU on the road, then you might really have something.

11. Syracuse (12-7, 3-3) NET 75, RPI 123

Last week: 11

You lose at BC and at home to Virginia Tech, and your NCAA chances plummet like Syracuse’s. They really need to beat Miami and NC State this week.

10. Stanford  (14-5, 3-3) NET 67, RPI 32

Last Week: 9

Stanford is going to be in and out of the bubble for the next several weeks. The host Cal and head to Miami this week.

——————————————- NCAA Cutline —————————————————————

9. Virginia Tech (15-5, 4-3) NET 49, RPI 25

Last Week: 10

Virginia Tech’s win at Syracuse moves them inside the bubble. They need at least a split between a game at Louisville and Georgia Tech.

8. NC State (13-6, 4-2) NET 29, RPI 52

Last Week: 8

A weird week for NC State as they lost at home to Georgia Tech, but won at Clemson. That keeps the NCAA hopes on track. A sweep of Pitt and Syracuse would keep things moving forward.

7. Miami (15-4, 4-2)  NET 36, RPI 79

Last Week: 4

Miami picked a real bad time to lose two games in a row, especially with a loss at FSU. They lose at Syracuse or Stanford, and the Canes will start slipping towards the bubble.

6. Louisville (13-5, 3-3) NET 15, RPI 38

Last Week: 7

If Louisville gets a split against Virginia Tech and Duke, they’ll take it.

5. North Carolina (15-4, 3-3) NET 27, RPI 23

Last Week: 6

North Carolina looked good against Notre Dame, but they head to a real test against Virginia.

4. SMU  (14-5, 3-3) NET 32, RPI 18

Last Week: 5

SMU has to make sure they don’t lose to FSU this week.

3. Clemson (16-4, 6-1) NET 30, RPI 28

Last Week: 3

Clemson was cruising along until they got beat at home by NC State. They go to Georgia Tech on Saturday.

2. Virginia  (16-2, 5-1) NET 13, RPI 13

Last Week: 2

Virginia is aiming for a top 4 NCAA seed. They have UNC at home, then head to Notre Dame.

1. Duke (17-1, 6-0) NET 2, RPI 2

Last Week: 1

Duke is really rounding into a form that may have them in the top 2 in the country. They host Wake Forest and Louisville this week.
