Compelling ACC football games heading towards October? Yes I think so!

The leaves are starting to change. It’s the getting towards the end of September, and looking down the ACC schedule there aren’t many conferences that are going to catch the rest of the country’s attention… Not so this year. There are three things you need to make for a football conference people want to watch. …

Are Maryland and Georgia Tech your newest ACC Contenders?

I guess you’ve noticed there’s been a little inactivity on the blog for a few days. Sometimes the day job throws a little snag in the blogging. I got winged out of the country for the week, but I’m back. I’ve been following what’s been going on, and a couple of ACC teams not named …

Florida State’s Jameis Winston and Georgia Tech’s Vad Lee prove the future is bright for ACC QB’s.

Which players are going to replace Tajh Boyd, Bryn Renner, and Stephen Morris as some of the ACC’s top signal callers over the next few years? If today is any measure of the future of quarterbacking in the ACC, things look mighty bright. Most folks around the country are already aware of Florida State’s RS …

With Alabama playing Texas A&M this week, who should the ACC’s top teams root for?

I guess you know by now Alabama is playing Texas A&M this weekend. Johnny “Football”, Nick Saban, revenge for the Tide etc etc. Lots of subplots in this one. This being an ACC Centric blog though how does such a high profile game between#1 Alabama and #6 Texas A&M, affect the ACC’s top teams? In …

Articles from around the ACC Blogosphere September 10, 2013.

For years everyone’s been saying, if the ACC wants to change their football perception they need to start winning big OOC games. Well how about playing 4 ranked SEC teams to start the season, be an underdog in all them and go 2-2, thanks to Clemson and Miami. Take a look deeper into the schedule …

Will Texas’s Mack Brown or USC’s Lane Kiffin make it through the season?

During the week 2 podcast with @HokieSmash and myself I said Texas’s game at BYU could be very tricky, and that if Texas didn’t win the heat would really turn up on head coach Mack Brown.  This is was despite the Cougars season opening loss at Virginia. You just had the feeling going into Provo the Longhorns …

Miami win makes current\future ACC 4-2 in their last 6 games with top 15 SEC Teams.

To quote the great American wrestler Ric Flair “To be the man, you got to beat the man… Wooo!”  The SEC has been the top collegiate football conference for what seems like forever. They’ve earned it. 7 straight national titles, multiple top 20 teams each year. On and on… it actually can be a bit …

The ACC Digital Network surges in popularity. Is it a future revenue generator?

There have been a couple of things I’ve kept an eye on all year that are under the radar but bode well for the ACC’s future. One is football recruiting, where the ACC by most any measure is 2nd to the SEC in football this year. More than half the conference including Louisville is the …

Articles from around the ACC Blogosphere September 3, 2013.

What a unbelievable first week of college football! Clemson made a statement against Georgia, the good kind. Jameis Winston looks like the real deal at Florida State, and Virginia scored a quality non conference win over BYU. Nobody in the ACC lost to anybody they weren’t supposed to. It was a solid opening for the …

Week 1 shows more subtle signs of the ACC’s improving football product.

Sometimes changing the football perception of a conference isn’t just always about who you beat it’s also about who you don’t lose to. Conferences and their football prowess, it’s a narrative we hear all the time. Maybe it’s over blown, but if the last couple of years have taught us anything it matters with TV …

With win over Georgia, Clemson earns respect across the country.

Let’s face it Clemson’s history gave them a lot of doubters. Brilliant performances followed up inexplicable and in some in cases humiliating losses. Things started to change last year when the Tigers only losses were to top 10 ten teams Florida State and South Carolina. The season ended with a confidence building win over SEC …

3 Things Clemson must do to beat Georgia

First off, really happy for my man @HokieSmash. He’s the only North Dakota State fan I know, and earlier in the week on our podcast he said NDSU could upset Kansas St.  Congrats sir! By the way anyone that schedules Boise St. or a top 10 FCS school is insane. Good FCS teams, are well coached …

After loss to South Carolina, North Carolina is who we thought they were.

So North Carolina got beat 27-10 to South Carolina. It wasn’t a particularly close game either. What I don’t understand is the gross generalizations that come from a game like this. The Tar Heels are awful, ACC football is awful. It’s more of the same year after year. Look this game doesn’t change anything about …
