Adam Gold Interview with #ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips

Good afternoon, Atlantic Coast Conference fans. Sans Stanford, who might be the worst Power 4 team in the country after their loss to Hawaii, it’s been a pretty good opening weekend so far.  Yesterday, Georgia Tech overcame several first quarter mistakes to get a road win at Colorado.  You can see my buddy, @TalkinACCSports’ blog post about that here.  Duke defeated Elon and Wake Forest gutted out a win vs. Kennesaw State University.  In addition, NC State got some revenge on East Carolina.

Adam Gold of 99.9 FM The Fan, a great sports talk radio show in Raleigh, NC, recently interviewed ACC Commissioner, Jim Phillips, about a nine-game conference schedule and an expanded playoff.  Phillips pretty much gave a non-answer (lol) here on where the ACC is going regarding an increased number of games because it will be unbalanced some teams.  However, he said that the the ACC university presidents, athletic directors, and conference officials are all discussing the proposed change.  You can see the interview below (and @TalkinACCSports – my buddy, Jeff -thoughts on the subject here):

Personally, I agree with Jeff here – I think that’s what will happen. The only way I’d want to see the ACC go to a nine-conference game format is if there was additional revenue coming from the ACC Network (and honestly, a substantial rise in revenue).

Have a fun day, college football fans!
