The SEC and Big 10 are fighting about the playoff format. The Big 12 and ACC just want to be included with something approaching equitable. The Big 10 wants 9 conference games, The Big 12 plays 9, and the ACC and SEC play 8. When it comes to scheduling, the solution is obvious.
The solution is obvious! Instead of dictating number of conference games (which, tbh, is none of their business), specify that each team must play at least 10 games against power conference opponents in order to qualify for the playoffs.

There you go. How difficult is this? The SEC and ACC can stay at 8 conference games if they wish. The Big 10 and Big 12 can stay 9 conference games. If you want to compare conferences, I mean, truly compare conferences, have them play each other with some regularity.
This would allow that.
The 10 P4 across conferences, and we’ll include Notre Dame will create some consistency.
The SEC wants the 5+11 format, and the Big 10 wants teams to play 9 conference games.
Here is your compromise.
We’re still allowing for 2 free and non-P4 games to schedule.
