The ACC’s three biggest questions of week 5

The three biggest ACC football questions of the week. Here we go for Week 5

How big a victory is it for the winner of Pittsburgh vs Virginia Tech?

Oh, it would be massive for either. Pittsburgh has UNC and BC and could be 7-0 heading to Miami. Virginia Tech, with a game at Cal and Georgia Tech could be 7-0 heading to Clemson. Clemson is improved since their opener against LSU, but that’s still a vulnerable team. Either would be in the top 20, maybe top 15 at 7-0. Both should be ranked now, but definitely at least 1. Now, if the winner can avoid the collapse of 2025 of 8-0 Georgia Tech, then a special season could be on the horizon, but it’ll start with this huge Friday night game.

Can Clemson knock off Miami?

I doubt Clemson can beat Miami, but the ingredients are there for it to happen, and that’s the bad weather and a home environment. Wake Forest proved in the 2nd half of their game with Miami that the Canes are not invincible. They have a few injuries here and there, and Clemson’s defense is playing much better. Where I had the chances at 5% or less after the LSU game, I’m probably at 15-20% now. If Clemson had a little more explosive offense, I could really see it happen, but still an upset while surprising would not absolutly shock me.

How much trouble is the loser of Louisville vs NC State in?

While the loser’s season isn’t over at 2-3, any high-ceiling goals are done for. After beating SMU, Louisville looked like they could be Charlotte-bound, but the loss to Wake Forest derailed things. NC State suffered the opening loss to Virginia, and then choked a win away at Vanderbilt. Jeff Brohm has more margin for error if Louisville loses, but questions will come up. Dave Doeren, with 2-3 start, will really be on the hot seat with a loss if he isn’t already.
