After win at Virginia Tech, Pitt becomes ACC contender.

Pitt under Pat Narduzzi has a 3-win season and an 11-win season. He’s got an ACC Title and big wins, and some inexplicable losses.

What Pittsburgh always is a team you can’t ignore.

At 4-0 with a P4 win over UCF should have been ranked. They were playing a 4-0 Virginia Tech who also had a P4 and should have been ranked. Both should have been ranked, and certainly at least one of them. Neither was, and that’s another story, but after 35-33 win at a much-improved Virginia Tech, the Pittsburgh Panthers better fly into the top 25.

Pittsburgh only had 295 yards of offense, but still left Blacksburg with a win after forcing 4 turnovers and withstanding the loss of starting QB Mason Heintschel. Now Pittsburgh stands a very good chance to be 7-0 be with UNC and Boston College next, heading to Miami.

The concern is now the health of Heintschel, though backup Holden Geriner came in the 3rd quarter and played reasonably well.

In a year where consistency has been hard to find, the Panthers stand 5-0, and if they aren’t on your list of ACC contenders for the 2nd half of the year, they need to be.
