Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.
I think we can say at this point that Wake Forest men’s basketball head coach, Steve Forbes, really former Virginia Tech mens’ basketball coach, Seth Greenberg?
After 6 years, Steve Forbes is still chasing that NCAA bid.
Which begs the question:

I think it’s true – there is no difference between the two coaches. None.
This year is a prime example – when Wake Forest has an opportunity for a win, they blow it. This year, Wake Forest had opportunities to get quality wins to help their NET ranking – which the committee uses as a metric to get teams into the NCAA tournament.
This year, Wake Forest is 11-8 overall.
The Demon Deacons have taking important Ls to Miami, Oklahoma, NC State, Miami, North Carolina, and SMU (I didn’t include Vandy or Texas Tech in this group because those teams are among the top in the country). But Wake – at this point – has to win these games against, Miami, or NC State, or SMU – these are coaches that have been here much less time than Forbes. These are 50-50 games that Wake has to win. And that’s only this year – 2025-2026.
We can talk about years past where Forbes has won a big game like in 2024-2025 vs. North Carolina – and followed it up with two losses to Louisville and Duke. Yeah – 2025 was Pat Kesley’s first year at Louisville. Or losing to FSU in Leonard Hamilton’s last season where he was in overdrive.
I can go on for years like this – but after six years – it isn’t really looking any better for Wake Forest – the Demon Deacons are going to have to win this ACC tournament if they want to get to the NCAA tournament.
It is time for a coaching change at Wake Forest.
