Frank Beamer will retire at the end of the 2015 season.

The face of Virginia Tech football, Frank Beamer announced Sunday that he will retire at the end of the 2015 football season.  I’m sure my blog partner @Hokiesmash will have plenty of thoughts on this. For me, I’ll always remember for just over 10 years from the late 90s to 2011 how good Virginia Tech was. The …

Ranking the Power 5 Football Conferences after week 9 with Playoff Analysis.

Is the last month of the season going to be fun or what? Let me point out on my philosophy on these rankings – you’re most recent  OOC results count a lot, and you’ll see me reference that throughout the season. We’ll give each conference a relative strength value 1-10. Let me explain my relative …

Miami Duke finish was an officiating debacle for the ACC

If you follow me on twitter or read the blog, you know I almost never complain officiating. Even with the teams I root for, I don’t do it. I believe officiating is poor across the country, and if you watch enough football you’ll see missed calls in every conference for and against every team. Saturday …

Undefeated Clemson eyes playoff spot and ACC Title, but ACC king Florida State stands in the way.

Clemson is top 5 team. They are in great position for the college football playoffs. They control their own destiny for the ACC Atlantic title, ACC Title, and a playoff spot. The Tigers are 8-0, and have averaged 57 points a game in their last two outings. Standing in their way is the king of …

@DavidTeelatDP of the Daily Press tries to make sense of apparent ACC Network Delay.

Yesterday it was reported that apparently the ACC Network was going to be delayed by ESPN.  We were left more questions than answers, and definitely there was some disappointment from ACC fans. Leave to one of the ACC’s preeminent  journalists David Teel @DavidTeelatDP of the Daily Press to to write an article that does a great job …

ACC Network Launch Delayed? It appears so or not?

The Atlanta Journal Constitution has reported the ACC Network Launch has been delayed.  Many of us expected the launch to be in 2017, but it appears ESPN has asked for delay of a couple of years. I could try to sugar coat this news, and say oh it will launch in 2019 now, but can …

Operation ACC Basketball covers #ACCMediaDay for the 2015 College Basketball season.

College Basketball sure did sneak up on us didn’t it? For the ACC, it’s like the glory days of the conference. Duke is the defending national champion. UNC is a pre-season top 5 team. Virginia should be very good, and the conference could boast 8 or 9 NCAA tournament teams, after dominating last year’s Big …

Ranking the Power 5 Football Conferences after week 8 with Playoff Analysis.

The conferences are so close I can barely separate them. You know what that means, you better not lose 2 games, and no conference is getting two teams into the playoff. Let me point out on my philosophy on these rankings – you’re most recent  OOC results count a lot, and you’ll see me reference …

Left for dead and forgotten, Georgia Tech shocks Florida State and what it means for the ACC.

Georgia Tech entered the season as a darkhorse playoff contender, the massive injuries, inexperience, and just plain ole poor football had the team sitting 2-5, and 0-4 in the ACC. They were an afterthought, a forgotten team, and a disappointment. At least that’s what the rest of us thought…. Heck I went to Georgia Tech, …

Turn out the lights for Al Golden at Miami after a 58-0 home loss to Clemson.

A few weeks ago I said Miami’s ugly loss at Cincinnati may have been Al Golden’s last stand.   Oh it was worse Saturday, so much worse for Al Golden and Miami. The Clemson Tigers rolled into Miami and defeated the Hurricanes 58-0. If this doesn’t force a change at Miami nothing will. Clemson is very …

Potentially forgettable ACC football season looks much better at season’s midway point.

Just a few weeks into this season, the ACC’s football prospects were looking mighty bleak. Georgia Tech expected to be one of the ACC’s best team’s was dominated by Notre Dame for 3 1/2 quarters, and went into a complete free fall. Louisville couldn’t beat Houston at home, and still hasn’t quite recovered. Virginia Tech …
