In 2016 Nothing in the NFL is Certain

After three weeks, we can comfortably say that it’s been a surprising start to the NFL season. Virtually all predictions made before week one have turned out to be wrong. Teams that were expected to be front runners for the Super Bowl (Carolina and Green Bay) are struggling coming out of the gate, while others …

I hear there is another huge football game in the ACC this week. We better check on those ACC bloggers from Louisville and Clemson.  What does Clemson blog RubbingtheRock have to say about Louisville in their scouting about the Cardinals. Louisville blog CardChronicle says Bobby Petrino isn’t going anywhere.  You never know with Petrino, but …

Ranking the Power 5 Football Conferences after week 4 with Playoff Analysis.

Why am I discussing conference power rankings? Well because as teams start playing each other in their conference, the strength of a conference determines the quality of your wins as the playoffs approach. It matters so let’s get right into it. Let me point out on my philosophy on these rankings – your most …

Wake Forest is 4-0. I repeat Wake Forest is 4-0.

Let that sink in for a moment the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are 4-0. This was a team that a couple of years ago may had the worst offensive line in the country, and they are undefeated after winning at Indiana 33-28. Now Indiana isn’t a college football blue blood, but they were a bowl …

Duke shocks the college football world and wins at Notre Dame.

I wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t watch it. Duke as a 3 TD underdog waltzed into South Bend and beat Notre Dame 38-35. If you’re a Duke fan just bask in the all glory of it. Nobody gave you chance after losses to Wake Forest and Northwestern. After going down 14-0, it was …

Florida State rebounds offensively against USF, but the defense again struggles.

Just a week ago Florida State state was pulverized 63-20 by Louisville. Against a dangerous South Florida team that was 3-0, the Noles could have come in with a huge hangover. They game didn’t start well as the Noles gave up an 84 yard TD pass play to South Florida. They were down 14-7 early, …

How big has the Clemson vs Louisville game become? According to Vivid Seats data from September 19, it is now 8th most in demand college football ticket in the country, ahead of Alabama vs LSU. Another interesting point for ACC fans, Clemson, Florida State, and Louisville are all ranked in the top 7 of schools …

The Clemson defense appears ready for Louisville, but not the offense.

Louisville still has Marshall to play this weekend before the big showdown at Death Valley with the Clemson Tigers. I’m going to assume Louisville takes care of business. I think that is a safe bet. Thursday night Clemson headed to Atlanta to play Georgia Tech. The Tigers won 26-7, and a couple of things are …

The ACC moves ever closer to becoming the football conference John Swofford dreamed of.

If you’ve follow this blog you know we’ve been documenting the ACC’s football rise since it began in 2012. It’s now 4 years later. This past weekend something occurred that we often saw in the SEC in the years prior to Alabama making the conference it’s personal playground. You know what I am talking about. …

Florida State and Jimbo Fisher are at a crossroads.

Yesterday Florida State was pulverized in a way that I didn’t think was possible by the Louisville Cardinals. This wasn’t a 5 Turnover game that turned a close game into a blowout like a couple of years ago in a 59-20 loss to Oregon. Florida State was beaten every which way possible against Louisville. The …

Georgia Tech quietly improving moves to 3-0 after crushing Vanderbilt.

When you are coming off a 3-9 season, you can’t take any games the next year for granted. With a less than daunting, but still a dangerous opening three games, Georgia Tech needed to open the season 3-0 if there was any chance of having a bowl season. Mercer in game two wouldn’t be a …
