Ranking the Power 5 Football Conferences after week 9 with Playoff Analysis.

Let me point out on my philosophy on these rankings – your most recent  OOC results count a lot, and you’ll see me reference that throughout the season. We’ll give each conference a relative strength value 1-10. Let me explain my relative rankings 0-5 : Conference lacks depth no elite teams 6-7: Conference lacks depth, …

Clemson has the best resume in college football after beating Florida State.

Right now after the games of October 30th, the Clemson Tigers have the best resume in college football. It is is better than Alabama’s who has one very good home win against Texas A&M. Tennessee, Arkansas and Ole Miss have all fallen apart down the stretch. Michigan hasn’t beat anyone of note other than maybe …

Mark Richt channels his inner Al Golden with loss to Notre Dame.

There were coaches we said on this blog were good hires – Justin Fuente at Virginia Tech, Dino Babers at Syracuse, and Bronco Mendenhall at Virginia. Virginia Tech is leading the Coastal Division race. Syracuse looks resurgent, and is threatening to make a bowl. Mendhehall is showing glimpses that he could eventually right the ship …

Was loss to Boston College, the last straw in Dave Doeren’s NC State tenure?

This won’t be a long post, because there isn’t much to add. Boston College hadn’t won an ACC football game since November 29, 2014. Saturday they beat NC State 21-14 in an embarrassing home loss for the Wolfpack. I’m not taking anything away from BC. Those players could have quit long ago, but they didn’t. …

Virginia plays hearts out, but Heisman front-runner Lamar Jackson leads Louisville to victory.

Virginia vs Louisville was probably the one of the best under the radar games I’ve seen all year. Virginia for several years has been one of the worst ACC football programs. They hired the high successful Bronco Mendenhall out of BYU. Mendenhall’s teams were know for toughness and physical play. We knew that would be …

Underappreciated Justin Thomas carries Georgia Tech to win over Duke.

In a conference with quarterbacks Lamar Jackson, Deshaun Watson, Jerod Evans, Mitch Tribusky,  Eric Dungey, Deondre Francois, and Brad Kaaya among others, Georgia Tech’s Justin has gotten lost in the shuffle. The senior has been the heart and soul of Georgia Tech football for the last few years. He just never quits, and he’s usually …

Virginia Tech can start making reservations for Orlando after defeating Pittsburgh.

I’m calling it. The Coastal Division race ended Thursday after Virginia Tech defeated Pittsburgh. The Hokies moved 4-1 in the ACC. They hold the tie-breaker over Pittsburgh, UNC, and Miami. All have lost to the Hokies. The remaining ACC schedule is Duke, Georgia Tech, and Virginia. Duke hasn’t won an ACC game this year. Georgia …

3 Quick Ways the NFL can Fix it’s ratings problem.

Sunday night should have been one of the best games of the year. Arizona and Seattle was a playoff caliber matchup. The game itself was everything currently wrong with the NFL. It was a 6-6 abomination of a game. There was almost not any vertical passing game, zero TDs, and no offense. It was a …
