Nine Coaches and Media Representatives We Would Like to See on the #ACC Network

Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.

You saw @TalkinACCSports post from yesterday – the ACC Network will launch on August 22, 2019.  The first football game will be on August 29, 2019 – Clemson will take on Georgia Tech.

This got us thinking about some of the talent we’d like to see on the ACC Network.

We’ve had prior posts on this site discussing this topic,  For example, I proposed Bill Roth, Jay Bilas, Anish Shroff, Ahmad Brooks, Sean McDonough, Tommy Bowden, Dan Bonner, Brent Musburger, and Doris Burke. @TalkinACC also proposed Danny Kannell, Brad Daugherty, Jeff Fischel, Wes Durham, Bill Raftery, Len Elmore, and Tim Brando.  We also discussed ACC personalities we’d like on the ACC Sirius XM ACC channel, including Danny Kannell, Wes Durham, David Teel, Anish Shroff, Norm Wood, Bill Roth, Ben Swain, Matt Zemek, Joe Ovies, Lauren Brownlow, Mark Ennis, Ethan Moore, and the ACC podcast hour 😉

After watching the Football Championship Series (FCS) playoffs today, I’ve come across a few others I’d like to see on the ACC Network.  Many of these are coaches that could either be on an old coaches show – or potentially do the color side of ACC football analysis.  In now particular order, here we go:

1.) Paul Johnson – Paul Johnson, who is retiring after this season as the Georgia Tech head football coach, has the exact kind of sarcastic humorous salty personality that the ACC Network absolutely needs either on a coaches show – or as part of color analysis.  His current knowledge of ACC football would be invaluable.

2.) Al Groh – Al Groh, former University of Virginia head football coach (the coach of the Hoos team who last defeated Virginia Tech), is doing an OUTSTANDING job as a TV game analyst for FCS football games – and equally do an outstanding job for ACC football.

3.) Frank Beamer – A first ballot selection this year for the college football hall of game, former Virginia Tech football head football coach, Frank Beamer put a sleepy little town in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains on the map in a big way. Excellent choice for in-game studio analysis and an older coaches show.

4.) Bobby Bowden – at 88 years old, former Florida State football coach, Bobby Bowden, might not want to do an entire season of football – but you could have him on an older coaches show.

5.) Chuck Amato – Chuck Amato, former head football coach at NC State – and defensive coordinator at Florida State and Akron, retired from coaching in February 2018.  He is perfect for studio analysis with his sense of humor.

6.) Denny Crum – I’m not sure how well former University of Louisville men’s basketball coach would do as analyst for basketball games, but it would be fun to have him on an older coaches show, as well. I would also think he’d be terrific for in-game studio analysis.

7.) Dave Odom – Dave Odom, former Wake Forest University head men’s basketball coach – certainly has a place in history tied to college basketball’s biggest upsets. Perfect for in-game studio analysis – and a coaches show.

8.) David Teel – The Dean all ACC reports and columnists, who we also said would be great on the ACC’s radio channel, would be an awesome in-studio analyst.  He is a LEGEND.

9.) Mike Barber – Mike Barber has the pulse on ACC football and men’s basketball in the Commonwealth of Virginia – you’d be getting a two for one hire here.

Who would else do you want to see on the new network?
