The most comically bad sports rankings are at it again. In the past we’ve laughed at the ESPN FPI.
2015 – ESPN’s pre-season Football Power Index is good for a hearty laugh.
2016 – A laugh, I mean look at ESPN’s Final College Football FPI Rankings.
2017 – The @ESPN FPI continues to be good for some laughs.
2019 – The 2019 Version of the ESPN FPI is good for another set of laughs.
Let’s have some more fun with the 2021 version. Who do you think the 8th ranked team in the poll is? Penn State, Oklahoma State, maybe somehow NC State made it there. Nope how about Mississippi State team coming off a 4-7 season. If Mississippi State is the 8th best team by any measure in 2021, then I’m getting invited to play in next year’s Masters. Could it have been a typo? That’s the only explanation. LOL!
Mississippi State had a top 10 team once in the past 40 years, and the Georgia Tech’s Triple Option offense ran wild on it in the 2014 Orange Bowl.
There’s no mathematical model that could turn Mississippi State into a top 10 team well except this one.
