Embrace the Madness #Slingbox

sling3

Recently I was approached about a March Madness Sweepstakes and Ad Campaign for Slingbox  and ask to write an article about it. For those interested in the Sweepstakes…

You can enter to win a Slingbox M1 (68 winners will be chosen). Additionally, one lucky winner will receive a “cube makeover” in their office, college team swag, an office party, and a Slingbox 500 (a $5,000 value!).

Winners will be announced on March 29, 2015.

Now I have had requests like this in the past, and have usually stayed away from them because either I didn’t know product or personally couldn’t stand behind it. This one was different. I own a Slingbox, and have been using it for years.

If you are not familiar with the Slingbox  technology, here is a little more about it.

Slingbox is a unique technology that lets you watch your home TV anywhere in the world, on any device. That means you get all your live cable or satellite TV channels and recorded shows on your phone, tablet, or laptop. Slingbox has superior video and audio quality through the Internet or your cellular network and is the only technology that delivers the true TV experience you deserve.

Slingbox is true Live TV anywhere you are or want to be – without blackouts, monthly fees, or limitations. Traveling for work? Slingbox lets you catch your home team game even from another state.

All you need is an internet connection.

Here are just a few of the ways I’ve used my Slingbox. I would go tailgating for college football games, and I was always attempting to find ways to watch the games I was missing. I tried all sorts of antennas. I thought about the satellite dish, but didn’t have subscriptions to the dish services. Then I heard about Slingbox.  I knew whichever game I went to there was either guest internet or I could use my mobile hotspot. There it was my slingbox attached to my TV at home allowed me to watch the games as if I were in front of my own TV, because it was my own TV.

I also travel internationally for the day job from time to time, and during the fall I simply do not like missing my football games. No problem… I connected to the plane’s internet, and I was watching Sunday night football. My co-worker had bought a Slingbox as well, and we went back and forth about the game.  We both had at least 3-4 people each ask us how were getting ESPN on the plane.

Even overseas later that week, I didn’t miss College Football on Thursday night in the hotel. Another co-worker was in Germany for 2 months recently.

I let him borrow my Slingbox, and he actually called it a lifesaver.

You have your remote, and channel guide right there. Just like you are there at home.
