Louisville’s comeback victory Sunday over Arizona kept alive the Cardinal’s chance at a national title. Arizona is the first team eliminated, as Louisville down 3-2 in the bottom of the 8th scored 6 runs and won 8-3.
Quietly, Louisville did something no ACC school has done in nearly 2 years. When was the last time an ACC school won a CFP playoff game, Final 4 game, men’s or women’s, a CWS games, or College Softball Word Series game? You have to go back a year ago when Florida State beat UNC 8-4 in the CWS.
When was the last time an ACC school beat somebody from outside the ACC in one of those events?
We’re back in 2023 when Wake Forest beat LSU 3-2.
Now, Louisville has pulled the trick with the victory Sunday. Good for them, and ACC commissioner Jim Phillips breathes a sigh of relief.
Good luck to Louisville the rest of the way!
