Four years ago, we wrote about Paul Finebaum’s obsession with Dabo Swinney. This goes back all the way back to 2019, when my podcast partner @AllSportDACC brought it up.
It’s now 2026, and Finebaum still keeps talking about Dabo Swinney and Clemson. This time it was at SEC Media Days. When Finebaum wasn’t taking shots at UNC and Bill Belichick, it was Clemson and Swinney.

Oh yea he also took aim at Clemson fans from TigerNet.
The SEC Network franchise and ESPN go-to college football hot-take specialist was asked at SEC Media Days what fanbase is the most annoying on a daily basis. Who earned the crown? None other than a non-SEC fanbase in Clemson’s Tigers.
Seriously what is the deal with Paul Finebam and Dabo Swinney and Clemson? Clemson barely made a dent in this year’s ACC Media Days due to a recent 7 – 6 season, but were probably the most talked about non SEC team at SEC Media Days in particuar by Finebaum. Shouldn’t he have been talking about the SEC’s SOS schedule or trying to convince everybody that the SEC is the best football league in the land like every other SEC Media member despite the obvious decline in the league?
No not Finebaum whose yearly talking point MO is to slam Clemson, and pick another ACC team to go after. Usually it’s Clemson and Florida State. This year it was Clemson and North Carolina.
Look Paul nobody is interested in your opinion about Dabo Swinney and Clemson, or any other ACC team, and why you keep doing it year after year borders on an outright obsession. As I said in 2022…
I think Paul Finebaum wants to be Dabo Swinney’s friend. How often has Dabo Swinney talked about Paul Finebaum, and how often does Finebaum talk about Swinney?
Sorry, Paul, Dabo isn’t going to call you for dinner or a round of golf no matter how much you want him to.
Paul just wants Dabo to like him, and he doesn’t know how to express his feelings… lol.
