The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors Must Hold an Emergency Meeting on the Immediate Future of Virginia Tech Football

Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.

Virginia Tech is right up there with UCLA as the worst Power 4 football program in the United States – and it’s not close.

See this article from Tim Thomas (our good friend):

It is time for Brent Pry’s coaching career to end at Virginia Tech (VT) – I encourage you to read Tim’s entire article.

But let’s go a step further – this debacle of a loss by VT to Old Dominion drops the Hokies to it’s worst start since 1987 (0-3 – and not looking better), which is the worst record since hair metal was hot.   Whit Babcock owns all of this.   Two bad football coaching hires are kind of career enders for an athletic director.   2025 VT football might be on track for a 2-3 win season.  That’s where the Hokies are at.

But now the VT Board of Visitors (BOV) must take action – they must find the money – it might mean taking on debt – but they have to buyout both Brent Pry (the head football coach) and Whit Babcock’s (the athletic director) contracts.  It might have to be done in a phased process meaning that the VT BOV first buys out Pry – then Babcock names an interim head football coach like JC Price – and then the VT BOV buys out Babcock’s contract at the end of the season.  Then the VT BOV hires a new AD – who hires a new head football coaching staff and also provides a vastly increased commitment to Name, Image, and Likeness and athletic department funding.

But the VT BOV must put VT alums, friends of the university, and fans out of their misery – and take appropriate action.
