Late April to early May is usually the time to start thinking about the college football season. We’re a little early to start a player analysis, but it’s time for a deep dive into the schedule. We’re looking especially in the out-of-conference. We‘ll also be looking at the best in-ACC conference games shortly after.
1) Clemson vs LSU – August 30, 2025
Clemson used to own the SEC’s best teams. They haven’t beaten a ranked SEC team since 2019. LSU is going to be in the top 15, and they’ll have one of the best QBs in the country in Garrett Nussmeier. Clemson has a pretty good one, too in Cade Klubnik. Clemson’s Death Valley is a hard place to win at, but in the last 5 years, it’s lost its mystique somewhat. They lost 2 home games just last year. It doesn’t get any bigger to open a season for Clemson. The game could set the tone for the entire season for Clemson.
2) Miami vs Notre Dame – August 31, 2025
In 2024 Miami should have made the playoffs. Notre Dame did and made the National Title game. So who is Miami? Are they the top 5 9-0 team, or the won that lost 3 of their last 4? QB Carson Beck has played in plenty of big games while at Georgia, now he has a huge one to open his Miami career. The Miami Notre Dame rivalry has such great history, and it s showcase game for the Sunday of the Labor Day weekend. You beat Notre Dame to open the season the country will be talking about Miami.
3) Miami vs Florida – September 20, 2025
Last season Miami trounced Florida 41-17 to open last season, and their season took off to a 9-0 start. This season is the second of a home and home series with Florida and the Gators are looking for revenge. Even if Miami loses to Notre Dame in game 1, they can make a statement against Florida. Florida themselves will be looking to improve on their 8-5 2024 season where they played well at the end of the year. This could be a top 25 matchup when the two teams meet up.
4) Georgia Tech vs Georgia – November 28, 2025
The last 2 years, Georgia Tech has played single-digit games with one of the nation’s premier programs in Georgia. Last year’s 8 OT win for Georgia was an instant classic and drew massive ratings on the Friday night after Thanksgiving. Again this year, the rivalry game is an exclusive window on the Friday night after Thanksgiving. While Georgia is still dominating the rivalry, and Georgia Tech is seeking their first win in the series since 2016, the game has again become must-see TV. Brent Key is eventually going to beat Georgia. Will it be this year?
5) UNC vs TCU – September 1, 2025
How could Bill Belichik’s first game as UNC head coach not be way up this list? UNC vs TCU is your Labor Day night game, and interest will be sky high for this one. TCU is a more than credible opponent, but let’s be honest, they are the side story to Bill Belichik. If the Heels get out of this game with a win they could be 4-0 when they host Clemson. I can’t wait to see what Belichick has at the collegiate level.
