The 10 most can’t miss college football games not featuring an ACC team. (1-5)

We are an ACC blog here obviously, and we’ve covered the ACC’s best conference games for 2025,  and the ACC’s best non-conference games.

What 10 games that don’t feature an ACC team are we most looking forward to catching?

Games 6-10.

1) Texas at Ohio State – August 30, 2025

Does it really get much better than Texas at Ohio State? The Buckeyes have ascended to the top of college football. That’s where Texas and their coach Steve Sarkisian want to be, and they are oh so close. This is an early-season matchup that will be a top 5 matchup between two college football blue bloods. The winner would probably become the odds-on favorite to win the national title going into September.

2) Texas at Georgia – November 15, 2025

Here is another prove it game for Texas. Georgia has slipped ever so slightly since their back-to-back titles, but they are still the reigning SEC Champions, and the SEC still runs through Athens. Is Texas ready to take the leap. If Texas should win at Ohio State and at Georgia, it might just be the Longhorns year.

3) Alabama at Georgia – September 27, 2024

I’m so intrigued by this game. Last year was a classic that Alabama won, but it didn’t even result in a playoff appearance for the Tide as they had their worst season in more than 15 years. Like we’ve said the SEC still runs through Athens, and Alabama can go a long way to proving last year was just a blip rather than a trend. Are the Dawgs starting to slowly slip as a national title contender? Well lose this game at home, and they might be.

4) Oregon at Penn State – September 27, 2025

The reason this game has my attention. Penn State, despite winning a playoff game last year, is still more well known for their failure to win big games against ranked opponents than being a perennial top 15 team. Oregon was the nation’s #1 team before getting clobbered in the playoffs by Ohio State. Both teams are looking to announce themselves as national title and playoff contendros with this match-up.

5) Ohio State at Michigan – November 29, 2025

As good as Ryan Day and Ohio State have been the last few years, including a national title this past year, Day is 1-5 against Michigan with 5 straight losses. After last season’s loss, Day may have very well been on the hot seat had he not won the national title. Michigan can beat Ohio State, but with Sherrone Moore can they return to being one of the elite programs in football without Jim Harbaugh? Let’s find out in year 2.
