College Football fans outside the SEC have basically grown frustrated with ESPN. In particular, ESPN Gameday was becoming a point of frustration. It seemed to always be going to an SEC stadium or the occasional top 10 Big 10 matchup.
Since the beginning of 2024, through October 25, 2024 there were 24 non-postseason Gamedays.
13 went to SEC Stadiums, 7 went to Big 10 stadiums, 2 were at ACC schools, and 1 was in Dublin, Ireland and it featured 2 ACC Teams.
I personally had tuned out Gameday, preferring to watch ACC Huddle which, while still part of ESPN at least covered schools I followed.
Then something funny happened, and there is no question ESPN began feeling some heat from around the country. ESPN Gameday wants to remain the national go-to pregame show. It’s still very relevant in the national landscape, but there’s a risk if you only want to cover one conference and a couple of Big 10 schools. Fans of other leagues might just start tuning out.
2 weeks ago, Gameday went to Salt Lake City, Utah, for Utah vs Cincinnati. Then it went to Lubbock, Texas, for Texas Tech vs BYU. Next week, it goes to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for Pitt and Notre Dame.

That’s 2 Big 12 Locales, and an ACC location in the span of 3 weeks.
ESPN gets a lot of deserved criticism, but let’s give credit where it’s due. They listened to the fans, and it’s made Gameday better this year.
