Wake Forest twitter reacts to going 5-0

Virginia’s game at Notre Dame was the day’s biggest game featuring an ACC team. Clemson’s near loss to UNC turned into the Saturday’s biggest story. Georgia Tech continues to be dysfunctional on offense, and Pittsburgh nearly collapsed to Delaware a week after beating UCF. Wake Forest at Boston College seemed to fly under the radar. …

Ranking the Power 5 Football Conferences after Week 4 with Playoff Analysis

While the playoff committee doesn’t rank the power 5 conference, there is no way conference strength – which means OOC results doesn’t figure in to a committee members thought process. Let me point out on my philosophy on these rankings – your most recent  OOC results count a lot, and you’ll see me reference that …

Duke’s Scott Bracey regains confidence, plays with professorial approach

So this is Scott Bracey. Yeah, he is an impressive guy. And that’s before we see if he is on the verge of completing a breakout season. Bracey met with the media for one of the first times – if not the first – since he arrived on campus in the Class of 2016 as …

Michigan State finally found Mark Dantonio as Duffy Daugherty’s Destination Man

Duffy is no doubt proud of Mark Dantonio and happy for his school. In fact, the late College Football Hall of Fame coach is bubbling over in green and white. A Michigan State Destination Man, which Duffy Daugherty most certainly was for 19 seasons in East Lansing, emerged as the successor that ultimately broke his …

ACC teams grades 1/4 of the way through Season.

Wake Forest (4-0, 0-0) – A+   Outside of Clemson no ACC team has performed more consistently early in the season. The offense and QB Jamie Newman are going to be a headache for ACC defenses all year. Clemson (4-0, 2-0) – A+   They don’t rebuild they reload, and should cruise into the playoffs. Before the …

Navy’s Elan Nash Rambler cover front and back of new defense

As Navy’s Elan Nash answered a question detailing how the senior safety managed to come off the bench to lead his team in tackles, he sounded “Belichickian,” meaning the New England Patriots’ vaunted head coach. That’s not necessarily hyperbole. After all, Bill Belichick has Annapolis roots as the son of the late Steve Belichick, a …

Taking slash out of Malcolm Perry’s game designed to lift Navy offense

Navy’s “Slash” season with Malcolm Perry– a chapter borrowed form Kordell Stewart’s early NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers — was an intriguing idea. After all, Stewart’s nickname was derived from separating his multiple positions with slashes – quarterback/running back/receiver — and Perry fit the profile as that kind of dynamic athlete. Keep the defense …

ACC Power Rankings After Week 3

It was a tough week for the ACC. The league suffered a handful of embarrassing losses, which prompted one publication to say that it should be relegated to Group of Five status. While I think that’s a bit of an overreaction, it’s clear that the league isn’t as deep as it usually is. Here are …
