Georgia Tech is not only the ACC’s worst team at the moment, but they might also just be the worst team in the P4, though Rutgers may have an argument here. Stanford coach Tavita Pritchard stuffed Brent Key in a locker in the second half of Stanford’s 34-27 win over Georgia Tech.
16. Stanford (2-2, 1-1)
Last Week: 16
Stanford doesn’t have a lot of talent, but they are well coached. Tavita Pritchard is going to lead the Cardinals to a couple of more upsets this year. You’ll see.
15. Syracuse (1-2, 0-1)
Last Week: 15
Syracuse gets UConn this week. If this season is going to turnaround it needs to start with this game.
14. Boston College (2-2, 0-1)
Last Week: 14
Boston College gave Virginia Tech a fight. Could they give SMU a fight as well?
13. NC State (2-2, 0-1)
Last Week: 13
NC State could go either way at this point. Beat Louisville and NC State might have a chance to get things moving in the right direction. Lose, and Dave Doeren’s seat gets even hotter.
12. Florida State (2-2, 0-1)
Last Week: 12
If Florida State could knock off Virginia, they might be able to build some momentum towards a decent season.
11. California (2-2, 1-1)
Last Week: 10
Cal has been one of the ACC’s more disappointing teams. Now they are underdogs at UNLV.
10. North Carolina (2-1, 0-1)
Last Week: 8
Can North Carolina shock the world and beat Notre Dame? Probably not, but the Heels have a pretty good defense and maybe just maybe…
9. Clemson (3-1, 2-0)
Last Week: 11
Clemson might have a little something working, especially after beating Cal. The defense is playing well, and I’d like them against most of the ACC, but Miami this week is on another level… still, a competitive game would go a long way.
8. Virginia (3-1, 1-0)
Last Week: 7
We didn’t learn much about Virginia after a win over Delaware. Florida State is a team the Hoos should beat, but that’s a dangerous game.
7. Louisville (2-2, 1-1)
Last Week: 2
Where did that loss to Wake Forest come from? Credit Wake Forest, but Louisville seems to do something like this every year. A trip to NC State could define the season.
6. Duke (4-0, 1-0)
Last Week: 6
4-0 Duke gets a week off to prepare for the ACC’s worst team, Georgia Tech.
5. Virginia Tech (4-0, 0-0)
Last Week: 5
A 4-0 Virginia Tech team playing a big weeknight home game? It’s almost like the Frank Beamer days, except it’s Friday and not Thursday, but you get the idea. Lane Stadium should be rocking for the game against 4-0 Pitt.
4. Pitt (4-0, 1-0)
Last Week: 4
Pitt gets Virginia Tech this week in a game where the winner absolutly needs to be in the top 25.
3. Wake Forest (3-1, 1-1)
Last Week: 9
Wake Forest flies up the rankings with an impressive win over Louisville. Now it’s time to validate it against an improved Stanford team, but a Stanford team that the Deacs should beat.
2. SMU (3-1, 1-1)
Last Week: 3
SMU had a sloppy win over Missouri St., really sloppy. Boston College is this week, and if they play the same way, it could be closer than expected.
1. Miami (4-0, 2-0)
Last Week: 1
Miami had no problem with Central Michigan. They head to Clemson to play a Tiger team looking to win 4 in a row.
