2025 Week 8 ACC Football Power Rankings

ACC Team of the Week : Louisville – for a 24-21  win over Miami

17. Boston College (1-5, 0-4)

Last Week: 17

Boston College is just a mess right now, and now they have to face a Louisville team coming off a win over Miami.

16. North Carolina (2-4, 0-2)

Last Week: 16

North Carolina actually showed some life, nearly winning at Cal, but it seems like too much to beat Virginia this week.

15. Florida State (3-4, 0-4)

Last Week: 11

Everything surrounding the FSU program is just rotten. Losing to Stanford is absolutely unacceptable. They have a week off to prepare for feisty Wake Forest.

14. Syracuse (3-4, 1-3)

Last week: 13

Syracuse isn’t the same team since losing QB Steve Angeli for the season. Now they head to Atlanta to face top 10 Georgia Tech.

13. Virginia Tech (2-5, 1-2)

Last Week: 13

Virginia Tech hosting Cal as a favorite this week is actually an intriguing game. The Hokies can still play spoiler.

12. Stanford  (3-4, 2-2)

Last Week: 15

Stanford stunned FSU later Saturday night. Frank Reich is doing one of the best coaching jobs in the ACC that no one is talking about. Could they really beat Miami? I mean, they couldn’t, could they?

11. NC State (4-3, 1-2)

Last Week: 10

NC State heads to Pitt this week. Can they possibly spring an upset? I wouldn’t count on it, but if the Wolfpack pulls it off, they could turn their season around.

10. Clemson (3-4, 2-3)

Last Week: 8

Clemson can’t beat anyone with a pulse, and may miss a bowl game altogether. They looked overmatched against SMU. If they have anything left, they have a BYE week to figure things out.

9. California  (5-2, 2-1)

Last Week: 12

Cal didn’t exactly play all that well against UNC, but they got away with a 21-18 win. They are on a BYE this week to get ready for the stretch run.

8. Wake Forest (4-2, 1-1)

Last Week: 9

Wake Forest got a week off to prepare for SMU. If they win that game, you’ll see them in a bowl.

7. Pitt (5-2, 3-1)

Last week: 7

Pitt is quietly lurking, should the top of the ACC slip. They are playing better, and get NC State at home this weekend.

6. Duke (4-3, 3-1)

Last Week:4

Duke can look like a top 25 team for long stretches of a game, but they just make too many mistakes against quality teams to win. That’s what happened against Illinois and now Georgia Tech. They are off this week.

5. SMU  (5-2, 3-0)

Last Week: 6

SMU added to Clemson’s miserable season with a 35-24 win at Clemson. A trip to Wake Forest is far trickier than it may appear.

4. Virginia  (6-1, 2-0)

Last Week: 3

Virginia drops this week through no fault of their own. Louisville just made a major jump. The ACCCG is still in play, as the Hoos head to flailing UNC Saturday.

3. Miami (5-1, 1-1)

Last Week: 1

Miami is still a playoff-caliber team, but QB Carson Beck’s 4-interception performance may be a red flag. Upstart Stanford, fresh off a win over FSU is this week.

2. Louisville (5-1, 2-1)

Last Week 5

Louisville played a spectacular game in a 24-21 upset against Miami. Louisville has had big wins before, but it’s beating the teams they should beat that sometimes is the problem. Reeling BC is at Louisville this week.

1. Georgia Tech (7-0, 4-0)

Last Week : 2

The second half against Duke was one of Georgia Tech’s best halves of the season in a 27-18 win. If that Georgia Tech shows up with consistency, they’ll be 11-0 before playing Georgia. Syracuse is this week.
