2025 Week 2 ACC Football Power Rankings

ACC Team of the Week : NC State – for a 35-31 win over Virginia

17. Stanford  (0-2)

Last Week: 16

Stanford’s talent level is so bad, but they are well coached, and they will upset somebody at some point. Boston College doesn’t want it to be them.

16. Virginia Tech (0-2)

Last Week: 14

Virginia Tech led Vanderbilt 20-10 at the half. Then promptly got outscored 34-0 by the Commodores at home. Old Dominion could send the Hokies to 0-3, and they’ve beaten the Hokies before in the not-too-distant past. Brent Pry is probably done.

15. North Carolina (1-1)

Last Week: 17

North Carolina did beat UNC-Charlotte this past weekend, but I still can’t get that TCU game out of my head. This week is Richmond.

14. Wake Forest (2-0)

Last Week: 15

Am I not high enough on Wake Forest at 2-0? Well, if they beat NC State, they’ll be 3-0 and we’ll move them way up.

13. Syracuse (1-1)

Last week: 13

Syracuse survived UConn, but head coach Fran Brown wasn’t happy. He had his team running sprints afterwards. Colgate shouldn’t be a problem.

12. Virginia  (1-1)

Last Week: 12

Virginia is improved, but can they reach 6 wins and a bowl? William & Mary should be win number 2.

11. Duke (1-1)

Last Week:7

Duke just made so many mistakes against Illinois in a game they had a chance to really compete in. A game at Tulane won’t be easy.

10. Boston College (1-1)

Last Week: 10

Boston College’s defense just couldn’t make a play late against Michigan State in what would have been a nice win, and lost 42-40 in OT. Stanford allows BC to get right this week.

9. California  (2-0)

Last Week: 11

If Cal beats Minnesota Saturday night, we’ll really take notice. Watch their QB, he’s going to be a good one.

8. SMU  (1-1)

Last Week: 6

How did SMU blow that game against Baylor? Up 14 with under 6 minutes at home. The offense is great, the defense not so much. Missouri State shouldn’t be a problem.

7. NC State (2-0)

Last Week:9

NC State is 2-0 with two late-game wins over East Carolina and Virginia. They go on the road to face Wake Forest on a Thursday night fun rivalry game.

6. Pitt (2-0)

Last week: 8

Pitt is 2-0 and heads to West Virginia for the Backyard Brawl to face West Virginia. West Virginia is a bad football team that just lost to Ohio. Pitt needs to take care of business in this one.

5. Louisville (2-0)

Last Week 5

Louisville was a little shaky against James Madison, but got the job done late against James Madison. They get a week off before Bowling Green.

4. Georgia Tech (2-0)

Last Week : 4

Georgia Tech has been waiting for a game like this for nearly a decade. They get Clemson at home in a game that could stamp them as a true ACC contender, and they have personnel that will allow them to have a chance.

3. Clemson (1-1)

Last Week: 3

So is Clemson the team that trailed Troy 16-3 in 1st half or outscored them 24-0 in the 2nd half? They bring half-game effort against Georgia Tech, and they will lose this week.

2. Florida State (2-0)

Last Week: 2

Florida State gets a well-earned week off after doing great work the first two weeks, including that fantastic win over Alabama.

1. Miami (2-0)

Last Week: 1

Miami’s next opponent South Florida has looked like the best G5 team in the country and is ranked in the top 20. If the Canes are a national title contender, they don’t lose this game.
