Honeymoon over for Brent Key after total debacle of a loss.

Remember last week when I said Brent Key had Georgia Tech on the right track after a win at Wake Forest?

First of all, I turned out to be really wrong as I left a final ominous caveat at the end of that article.

With a 1-3 Bowling Green next, Georgia Tech can’t afford to misfire on that game. P5 Bowl Teams don’t lose to 1-3 teams from the MAC. Lose there, and all gains from this past week will be lost.

Georgia Tech jumped out to a 14-0 lead, and promptly just quit as Bowling Green scored 38 straight points at one point to run the Jackets out of their own stadium.

The debacle was bad for Georgia Tech, not only were all the gains from Wake Forest were lost. Any gains made from his entire tenure were washed away in one complete debacle of an embarrassing loss to a bad Bowling Green team.

Now I give Bowling Green credit. They outcoached and bullied the Jackets all over the field. They played harder better and faster.

For Brent Key, the honeymoon is over. This game was so reminiscent of the previous era, that it should strike fear in every Georgia Tech fan. Key looked lost and helpless.

We’ve seen it every game this year against an opponent with a pulse, the Jackets came out of the half flat.

Key deserves every criticism that comes with a performance like this. Collins deserves a ton of blame for the current state of Georgia Tech football, but this one isn’t on him. This is 100% on Brent Key and the coaching staff.

The goal of a bowl game looks basically finished now, and Georgia Tech is all the way back to square one.

The Georgia Tech fan in me is simply speechless after Saturday’s trainwreck.
