Move The New Year’s Six Bowls To New Year’s Day – A Tweet Cap

Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans. A few random thoughts on the New Year’s Six Bowls – and the College Football Playoff: 2/ I’ve never been a fan of having major bowl games – including the college football playoff – on New Year’s Eve. College football has to go back to its most …

Wake Forest caps historic season with Gator Bowl win.

Dave Clawson and Wake Forest with their Gator Bowl win completed one of the greatest seasons in Wake Forest history. The 38-10 victory over Rutgers finished off an 11-3 season, which may land the Deacs in the top 15. It is virtually assured, that this will be the highest final ranking Wake Forest has ever …

Pitt has great season, but it could have been magical.

Pittsburgh had a great season. They won 11 games, they beat Clemson, and won the ACC. No one can’t take away what they accomplished, but it’s not what it could have been. It could have been a truly magical season with a win in the Chick-Fila Peach bowl. That would have been a 12 win, …

After bowl loss, Mack Brown not showing much substance at North Carolina.

Since Mack Brown has been at North Carolina, they’ve had a slew of NFL and All-ACC players – Javonte Williams, Josh Downs, Sam Howell etc. In three years Brown barely has a .500 record (21 – 17, 14 – 12), back-to-back seasons with bowl losses, and a pre-season top 10 team that was one of …

Dabo Swinney coaches Clemson through disappointment and staff departures for 10 win season.

On October 23rd, the Clemson Tigers sat 4-3 after getting thumped by Pittsburgh 27-17. In 2021, there would be no national title, no playoffs, and no ACC Title. For a perennial top 5 team, that left Clemson staring at a season with seemingly not a lot to play for. Then Clemson started winning and getting …

One tweet sums up Virginia Tech’s disastrous bowl game.

My podcast partner @Hokiesmash_ASD  tweeted this very early in Virginia Tech’s bowl game, and it hits the mark of where the Hokie program is. This is going to be a long day – and it shows how big a rebuilding job that Coach Pry has on his hands. I imagine that Pry is working the …

Rose Bowl’s 60th anniversary of UCLA staring down Bear Bryant

The 1962 Rose Bowl established a college football Civil Rights milestone, but the 60th anniversary of the New Year’s Day game will come and go attracting little, if any, recognition. What should be remembered as a tipping point quickly turned into an oxymoron – a “forgotten milestone.” The culprit was a 1960s media custom of …

After ugly bowl loss, welcome to a scorching hot seat Scott Satterfield.

Going into the off-season it seemed Georgia Tech Geoff Collins would have the ACC’s hottest seat. That’s what happens when you win 9 games in 3 years, but he now has a buddy on the scorching hot seat bench. It’s Scott Satterfield at Louisville. Dino Babers deserves a hot seat mention, but things don’t seem …

Reduce Opt outs – Use NIL to Pay Players for Bowls

Bowl games are getting cancelled left and right. The reasons most schools are citing are COVID protocols, Injuries, opt outs, and transfers in combination as the reason they can’t field teams. You can’t control injuries, and nobody can agree what do to do with COVID protocols. What can be controlled to a certain degree are …

Grading the ACC’s new football coaching hires.

It’s become virtually impossible to determine if a coaching hire will pan out. Virginia Tech’s Justin Fuente looked like a home run, that obviously didn’t pan out. Louisville’s Scott Satterfield also looked like a great hire that remains a question. We know how the skeptics looked at the hire of Dabo Swinney. We don’t know …

NCAA Bracket Projections (Men’s and Women’s) for December 23, 2021

Do you realize selection Sunday is less than three months away? ACC teams had it rough in the non-conference portion of the season, and how has it affected the early projections? It’s never too early look, but hard to see the ACC getting more than 6 bids, and more likely 4 or 5. Things look …
