Ranking the Power 5 Football Conferences after Week 12 with Playoff Analysis

While the playoff committee doesn’t rank the power 5 conference, there is no way conference strength – which means OOC results doesn’t figure in to a committee members thought process. Let me point out on my philosophy on these rankings – your most recent  OOC results count a lot, and you’ll see me reference that …

Despite loss to Wake Forest, NC State is on the right path

Well, I am going to admit this upfront, last night’s NC State loss at Wake Forest hurt. It hurt a lot actually. NC State was on the verge of a historic season. I believed that this team was going to win 9 games in the regular season and go for a 10th win in a …

Wake Forest is in the midst of a potentially remarkable season after win over NC State.

I’m guessing a lot of people around the country aren’t aware of the potentially remarkable season going at Wake Forest. The Deacs are often overlooked, but they shouldn’t be. Those of us that follow the ACC know what’s going in Winston Salem and it’s stunning in the best kind of way if you are a …

Opinion: Justin Fuente Is Not Leaving For Tennessee (TweetCaps)

Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference sports fans. The Hokies just got a really big win today and made one of college football’s best goal line stands this season. (h/t @TalkinACCSports) Let’s get right to it (gonna have fun with some tweetcaps here):   ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg just mentioned Virginia Tech HC Justin Fuente as …

Virginia Tech’s goal-line stand against Pittsburgh was one of college football’s best this season.

I didn’t watch all of this game, but I tuned in to see one of the great goal-line stands this season in college football. If there was a better one this year, I haven’t seen it. 4-6 Pittburgh was looking to get a win that could have save it’s season. With 30 seconds left, they …

After ugly loss to Duke, It’s time for Georgia Tech to let Defensive Coordinator Ted Roof go.

After Georgia Tech likely cost itself a bowl game with a very ugly 43-20 loss at Duke, one thing has become abundantly clear. Paul Johnson and Georgia Tech have to cut ties with defensive coordinator Ted Roof. Roof is a former Yellow Jacket player from the 80s, and a decent recruiter. It’s not an overly …

Where does Miami’s win over Notre Dame rank in the ACC’s best OOC wins of the decade so far?

One of my favorite series of articles that I wrote this year is the ACC’s best 25 OOC wins since the start of this decade.   It’s the decade where ACC football became one of the premier football conferences in the country. This past weekend Miami knocked off #3 ranked Notre Dame. It was an outstanding OOC …

Notre Dame’s lack of full ACC conference affiliation has finished off their playoff hopes in 2017.

The ACC doesn’t need Notre Dame to join as full football member any longer. The conference doesn’t needed Notre Dame football to start a network, or to build the conference’s SOS. The ACC is firmly established as one of the premier football conferences in the country. They 5 game Notre Dame\ACC schedule works out well …

Clemson survives game with Florida State, but Tigers have room to improve.

It’s a testament to where Clemson is as a program that after beating Florida State and winning their 3rd straight Atlantic division, you still get the feeling the Tigers aren’t quite hitting on cylinders. Miami blew out Notre Dame Saturday. Oklahoma has beat Oklahoma State and crushed TCU in back to back weeks. Auburn just …

After destroying Notre Dame, Miami proves they are a playoff caliber team.

3 weeks ago, Miami was a 7-0 fraud. Most people thought it, or at the very least said it was only a matter of time before they got exposed. Last week Miami took care of Virginia Tech 28-10 and some eyes were opened. Maybe this Hurricane team was pretty good, but surely when Notre Dame …
