NC State hires Kevin Keatts and we approve.

I will admit it, I LOVE the Kevin Keatts hire at NC State. As I went through Twitter, the sense I got was disappointment. Now, I am not sure if the disappointment that I felt was due to the news that had broken earlier in the day that Sean Miller, Archie Miller’s brother, was advising …

What does the early lack of upsets and draw mean about the NCAA Field?

By NCAA tournament standards, let’s be honest this has been a kind of dull tournament. Has their been a signature moment yet? An epic upset? No and no… What is this telling us about the field? Coming in we knew the bubble was really weak. Those 7-11 seeds at large bids, were a lot of …

The ACC was decent, but not great on Day 1 of the NCAA Tournament.

The ACC was 13 points from going 0-4 on day 1 of the NCAA tournament. With that said the name of the game is survive and advance, and that’s what 3 of the 4 ACC teams playing Thursday did. Notre Dame beat Princeton 60-58. Virginia defeat UNC-Wilmington 76-61. Florida State got by Florida Gulf Coast …

2016 ACC Tournament attendance blew away 2017 Big 10 Tourney in battle for Washington, DC.

Remember a few years ago when the ACC and Big 10 scheduled several years of their conference tournaments in same locales? The ACC was going to Washington, DC in 2016, and the Big 10 was going in 2017. In 2017 the ACC was going to New York City, and next year the Big 10 goes …

Looking at each ACC Team’s NCAA tournament bracket.

The brackets are set!  Let’s check in on each ACC team’s bracket, and how far I expect them to go. Virginia Tech – EAST #9 Seed The Hokies open the tournament with a tricky game against a decent Wisconsin team. The Badgers went 4-6 in their last 10 games, but won 25 games. I think the …

Where the ACC Teams will be seeded for the NCAA Tournament.

We pull the RPI numbes from CBS Sportsline.  (9) Duke (27-8) – Projected Seed 1 I know Duke has 8 losses, and the committee is supposed to ignore conference finish. They have a whopping 16 top 100 wins. I think the committee gives them the #1 seed nod over UNC because of winning 2 out 3 …

After brilliant 2nd half against UNC, Duke again looks Final 4 capable.

Like most everyone else back in November and December I thought Duke was on the short list of national title contenders, but then the injuries started mounting. Coach K missed games with his own health issues. Grayson Allen was becoming a distraction with his on court antics, and the team lacked chemistry. Heck as recently …

8 of the top 12 Rated College Basketball games featured an ACC Team.

It’s the ACC Tournament week, and Duke and North Carolina are meeting again – this time in the Friday semi-finals. That means a ratings bonanza for ESPN. Duke/UNC games were two of the four highest rated college basketball games this season, but it would have been big rating if UNC/Louisville were playing tomorrow too. Pulled …

The ACC tournament should rotate but not to where Boeheim said to

So, here we are again. Listening to Jim Boeheim complain again and again about how the ACC needs to give up on it’s roots and only play the ACC tournament in BIG media markets (and then getting absolutely crushed by the City of Greensboro’s twitter account). .@AdamZagoria @ACCSports We kindly disagree. But I guess you …
