ACC Bowl Projections for 11/18/2012

A rare double post day for me!

We’ll go with College Football News’s prediction on the Military Bowl, since it doesn’t look like the ACC will get 8 bowl eligible teams.

Military
Washington, DC RFK Stadium
Dec. 27, 3:00 pm, ESPN
Army vs. ACC No. 8

Projection: Bowling Green* vs. San Jose St*
*Army and ACC not projected available

Belk
Charlotte, NC Bank of America Stadium
Dec. 27, 6:30 pm, ESPN
ACC No. 5 vs. Big East No. 3

Projection: Duke vs. Cincinnati

I haven’t changed my opinion this one. The Belk wants Duke. If Duke gets to 7-5 with a win over Miami they could move up…

AdvoCare V100 Independence
Shreveport, LA Independence Stadium
Dec. 28, 2:00 pm, ESPN
ACC No. 7 vs. SEC

Projection:  Wake Forest  vs. Louisiana-Lafayette*

I’m leaving Wake Forest here for the moment, but considering how hot Vanderbilt is the team the Deacs need to beat to get bowl eligible it doesn’t look likely.

Russell Athletic
Orlando, FL Florida Citrus Bowl
Dec. 28, 5:30 pm, ESPN
Big East No. 2 vs. ACC No. 3

Projection: Rutgers vs. Miami

Miami hasn’t made post-season intention known yet. Should they choose to not self impose and beat Duke, I see them here.

Franklin American Mortgage Music City
Nashville, TN LP Field
Dec. 31, 12:00 pm, ESPN
SEC No. 7 vs. ACC No. 6

Projection: Vanderbilt vs. Virginia Tech

Local team Vanderbilt will help sell tickets. I think many Hokie are writing this season off, but a trip to Nashville against a SEC opponent might coax a few to make the trip.

Hyundai Sun
El Paso, TX Sun Bowl
Dec. 31, 2:00 pm, CBS
ACC No. 4 vs. Pac-12 No. 4

Projection: NC State vs Arizona

After giving up 62 points to Clemson, NC State fans aren’t too happy with Tom O’Brien. The Chick Fil A really doesn’t want the Wolfpack again either.

Chick-fil-A
Atlanta, GA Georgia Dome
Dec. 31, 7:30 pm, ESPN
ACC No. 2 vs. SEC No. 5

Projection: Georgia Tech vs South Carolina

The Yellow Jacket’s are on a 3 game winning streak, and that’s moved Georgia Tech up. If they play well against highly ranked Georgia they may end up here.

Discover Orange
January 1st, 8:30 pm, ESPN
Miami Gardens, FL Sun Life Stadium
ACC No. 1 vs. BCS At-Large

Projection: Florida State vs. Lousiville

I recommend to FSU if they get the chance, run up the score on Florida. With all the upsets going around, they still might have a slim shot at the national title game.

Allstate Sugar
January 2nd, 8:30 pm, ESPN
New Orleans, LA Mercedes-Benz Superdome
SEC No. 1 vs. BCS At-Large

Projection: LSU vs. Clemson

If Clemson beats South Carolina say hello to a BCS game. The Sugar is the most likely, but I’m hearing rumblings of the Fiesta too. The Chick Fil A bowl is praying for a Clemson loss.
