ACC Coaching Hotseat rankings with 3 weeks left in football season.

We go from coldest to hottest.

0 – Ice Cold

1 – Still cool

2 – There’s smoke

3 – Getting Warm

4 – On Fire

5 – Start working on the resume

Jeff Brohm, Louisville = 0

Jeff Brohm has Louisville eyeing an ACCCG appearance and the Cards are on the edge of the top 10 in his first season. Hotseat? He might be ACC COY.

Mike Elko, Duke – 0

Duke’s biggest issue will be trying to keep Mike Elko. Even with QB Riley Leonard’s injury, Duke is sitting 6-3.

Mike Norvell, Florida State  = 0

Mike Norvell has rebuilt Florida State into one of college football’s best teams as they’ve raced out to a 9-0 start.

Dabo Swinney, Clemson  = 0.5

Dabo Swinney would have to go several seasons of 4+ losses before any serious discussion of hotseat started, but 5-4 even with a win over Notre Dame has created some frustration.

Dave Clawson, Wake Forest = 0.5

Dave Clawson is revered at Wake Forest. He’s had great success, but 4-5 (1-5)  at this point in the season is not what we expect from Clawson.

Brent Key, Georgia Tech  = 1

Georgia Tech’s inconsistency earlier in the season started to split some Jacket fans. Georgia Tech seems to have put that behind them in recent weeks. Now don’t miss a bowl sitting at 5-4.

Dave Doeren, NC State = 1

Dave Doeren missed on the Brennan Armstrong experiment, but he has NC State 6-3 with tough defense, and an offense that picks its spots.

Jeff Hafley, Boston College = 1.5

Questions were starting up about Jeff Hafley earlier in the year, but don’t look now the Eagles are 6-3 and on a 5-game winning streak.

Pat Narduzzi, Pittsburgh = 1.5

Pat Narduzzi has done too much good the last few years, that a nightmare 2023 will be overlooked. Don’t repeat it next year.

Brent Pry, Virginia Tech – 2

Brent Pry and Virginia Tech have flashed some potential this year at 4-5 (3-2). Getting to a bowl would a long way.

Tony Elliot, Virginia  = 2.5

Virginia is probably better than their 2-7 (1-5) season so far, but the record is the record, and a 4-win season seems like the ceiling.

Mack Brown, UNC  = 2.5

How can a 7-2 coach be feeling a little bit of heat? When your offense is loaded with NFL talent including at QB and you lost to Virginia at home, and Georgia Tech after having 4 double digit leads in back-to-back weeks.

Mario Cristobol, Miami = 3

Mario Christobal had Miami 4-0 and then coached the worst final 2 minutes of the season against Georgia Tech in a debacle of a loss. The Canes are 2-3 since, and nobody in Miami is happy, especially with FSU’s resurgence.

Dino Babers, Syracuse  = 4

It really does feel over for Dino Babers at Syracuse. They 4-5 (0-5) Orange are the only winless team in conference play, and Babers is 40-54 (19-44) since his arrival. He’ll always have the magical 10-win 2018 season.
