Which ACC Coaches can feel comfortable in the off-season, and who might want to keep their realtor\u2019s number handy?<\/p>\n<p>We go from coldest to hottest.<\/p>\n<p>0 \u2013 Ice Cold Seat<\/p>\n<p>1 \u2013 Still cool<\/p>\n<p>2 \u2013 There\u2019s smoke<\/p>\n<p>3 \u2013 Getting Warm<\/p>\n<p>4 \u2013 On Fire<\/p>\n<p>5 \u2013 Start working on the resume<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jon Scheyer, Duke\u00a0 = 0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jon Scheyer just won 27 games, and an ACC Title. Honestly, overall it was a pretty good first-year Scheyer. Duke will likely enter next year as the ACC’s highest-ranked team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adrian Autry, Syracuse = 0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Adrian Autry takes over the legendary Jim Boeheim at Syracuse. There’s no hot seat when you haven’t coached a game.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Damon Stoudamire, Georgia Tech = 0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Damon Stoudmire takes over the less-than-legendary Josh Pastner at Georiga Tech. There’s no hot seat here.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Micah Shrewsberry, Notre Dame\u00a0 = 0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Of the three new hires in the ACC – Autry, Stoudamire, and Shrewsberry I have the most confidence in Shrewsberry. He rapidly turned Penn State around and he can do the same at Notre Dame as he follows Mike Brey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tony Bennett, Virginia\u00a0 = 0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tony Bennett had a regular season ACC title and made the ACC Tournament Finals. The opening-round NCAA loss to Furman was a bit a frustrating, but Bennett probably needs to go another year without an NCAA Tournament win to feel even the slightest heat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jim Larranaga, Miami = 0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Come on Larranaga just went to the Final Four. They adore him in Miami.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Earl Grant, Boston College\u00a0 = .5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Earl Grant has improved Boston College in the 2 years he’s been there. Year 3 is the time to cash in and get to the post-season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mike Young, Virginia Tech\u00a0 = .5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Virginia Tech was a bit of a disappointment this year, but Mike Young is still just 1 year removed from an ACC Title.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jeff Capel, Pittsburgh\u00a0 = 1.5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>24 wins and 2 NCAA Tournament victories have a way of really cooling off a previously very hot seat for Jeff Capel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leonard Hamilton, FSU = 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Florida State was really bad last year winning just 9 games. That’s back-to-back years the Noles have missed the NCAAs. Another year like the last two, and the hot seat rumblings will really begin for Leonard Hamilton.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steve Forbes, Wake Forest\u00a0 = 2.5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Forbes has been decent at Wake Forest, but that’s still 3 straight years without any NCAA bid at for the Deacs. If it becomes 4, the Forbes seat will be burning hot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kevin Keatts, NC State = 2.5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kevin Keatts’s seat cooled somewhat by getting NC State to the NCAA Tournament, but that’s still 6 years as Wolfpack coach without a single NCAA tournament win. Keatts probably still needs a strong next season to stick around.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hubert Davis, UNC\u00a0 = 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hubert Davis went from National Title game, and pre-season #1 team to hotseat after a hugely disappointing 2022-2023 season where North Carolina missed the NCAA tournament. Life comes at you fast as UNC Head Coach.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brad Brownell, Clemson \u2013 4<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What’s a hot seat without Brad Brownell? Clemson may have been snubbed for the NCAA tournament, but missing the dance is still missing the dance. The NIT first-round flameout didn’t help. That’s still just 3 NCAA appearances in 13 years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kenny Payne, Louisville = 4.5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There will be no patience in Louisville for Kenny Payne after one of the very worst seasons in the history of ACC.
