It was Russell Wilson’s final game as a NC State Wolfpack, and he went out with a winner. Wilson threw for 275 yards and ran for 41. The victory over a ranked West Virginia team in the Champ Sports Bowl finished off a 9-4 season for the Wolfpack. It was NC State’s first 9+ win season since 2002.

2. NC State 10 Notre Dame 3 – October 8, 2016

It was the Hurricane game. NC State hosting Notre Dame was a highly anticipated game that Wolfpack fans had been looking forward. NC State didn’t disappoint their fans in the rain as they out-toughed the Irish 10-3.

3. NC State 52 Arizona State 31 – December 29, 2017

ACC teams had lost 4 straight Sun Bowls prior to NC State blowing out Arizona State in 2017. Nyheim Hines had 3 TDs in the victory. The win lifted the Wolfpack to a 9-4 top 25 finish. It was their best season since 2010.

4. NC State 34 UCF 27 – December 26, 2014

Central Florida was a solid team in 2014. They were a 9-4 AAC co-championship team that had won of 9 of their previous 10 games before playing NC State in the St. Petersburg Bowl. QB Jacoby Brissett had 262 yards passing and a TD.

5. NC State 41 Vanderbilt 17 – December 26, 2016

The Vanderbilt team that NC State beat in the Independence Bowl was better than their final 6-7 record. Vanderbilt had wins over Georgia and Tennessee, and had 5 other single digit losses. They were no match for NC State in this one, as Jaylen Samuels had 104 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns. It was part of the ACC’s remarkable 9-3 bowl season in 2016.
