ACC Football: What Did We Learn? Week 2 Edition

It was another intriguing week of ACC football in Week 2. A lot of good, some bad, some even devastating enough to leave you hanging over the stadium guard rail, if you know what I mean, so without further adieu, here’s what we learned… 1) The ACC Coastal Division title runs through Georgia Tech. (pun …

Ranking the Power 5 Football Conferences after week 2 with Playoff Analysis.

What a wild weekend! How did it affect the conference rankings? Let me point out on my philosophy on these rankings – you’re most recent  OOC results count a lot, and you’ll see me reference that throughout the season. We’ll give each conference a relative strength value 1-10. 1) SEC – 8.5 After a solid …

Where does Virginia go after heartbreaking loss to Notre Dame?

12 seconds… 12 seconds is all that remained for Virginia football to win their biggest game in years. You have to go back nearly decade when Virginia beat #5 Florida State to find a bigger one. It definitely would have been the biggest win of Mike London’s career at Virginia. Then it happened… Notre Dame …

Could the Pac 12 give up full network ownership?

We’ve written several articles here about the possible ACC network, but we’ve also kept an eye on other conference network goings on. An interesting news bit came out on Pac 12 network recently. As we know the Pac 12 is fully owned by the Pac 12 conference. That may be about to change. This is …

There’s one week in the books for the Atlantic Coast Conference. There were no losses to FBS teams (although Pitt tried, bless their hearts), but there also weren’t any wins against major conference opponents. Did we really learn that much about any of the teams in the ACC? Probably not. Is that going to keep …

Louisville’s near comeback against Auburn shows glimpses of how good the Cardinals could be this year.

With the score 24-0 in the 3rd quarter, all I could think was that Louisville had been outscored 61-14 in their last 6 1/2 quarters against top 15 SEC teams. Louisville lost 37-14 to Georgia in their bowl game, and again today it appeared the current Cardinals simply weren’t equipped to play with teams of …

Everything wrong with North Carolina football under Larry Fedora was on display against South Carolina.

North Carolina has been a program that since the late 90s when Mack Brown left that has been the epitome of mediocre. They haven’t been bad enough to be called awful, but they haven’t won more than 8 games since 1997. Larry Fedora’s Tar Heels have been wildly inconsistent. They play great then terrible. …

Ir’s almost here. College football season is just around the corner, with four Atlantic Coast Conference teams playing their season openers on Thursday. And thus, it’s time to bring back something I’m sure roughly two people have missed over the summer – my power rankings. Why are my power rankings better than anyone else’s power …
