Mark Richt makes his mark at Miami with win over Florida State.

We told you before Mark Richt’s first full season it would happen.  I believe he will put together a 4-5 year run that will be the best Miami has seen in over 15 years. There will eventually be a few wins over Florida State, and I believe Richt will win a division title, and possibly …

NC State turning into a really solid team after win over Louisville.

I’ll be the first to admit, I thought the Wolfpack were in big trouble after game 1. In a mistake prone opening loss to an average South Carolina team, the Wolfpack again appeared to be headed toward a season of unfulfilled potential. Since that game the Wolfpack have reeled off 5 straight wins. That includes …

Ranking the Power 5 Football Conferences after Week 5 with Playoff Analysis

While the playoff committee doesn’t rank the power 5 conference, there is no way conference strength – which means OOC results doesn’t figure in to a committee members thought process. Let me point out on my philosophy on these rankings – your most recent  OOC results count a lot, and you’ll see me reference that …

Virginia Tech is right on schedule despite loss to Clemson.

Sometimes after a loss to anyone there can be tendency to ask, what’s wrong, why did we lose, etc etc. Virginia Tech lost Saturday night to Clemson 31-17, but Hokie fans should still very encouraged by their program direction. Let’s be honest Clemson is just at another level from the rest of college football save …

Hard to tell how good Georgia Tech is after 3-1 start, but they are dangerous.

Following Georgia Tech’s 33-7 win over UNC, it’s still hard to tell just how good the Yellow Jackets are. To be fair to the Tar Heels, they are an injury depleted team that’s just plan bad. Georgia Tech controlled the game from start to finish. Last week Georgia Tech beat Pitt 35-17 and in week …

I’m sure you’ve heard by now the astonishing allegations levied against Louisville today. Louisville confirms it has received notice it is included in federal investigation involving criminal activity related to men’s basketball. — Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanESPN) September 26, 2017 Louisville received its punishment from the NCAA 6/11. A bball assistant was in a hotel room …

Dave Doeren has finally gotten that signature win

The tenure of Dave Doeren has been an interesting one at NC State. He was brought in to win games, and in his first 4 seasons it was looking rocky. He was not beating teams that he should have (last year ECU, BC are just 2 of those examples). The fan base was becoming very …

Wake Forest and Duke are both 4-0 at the same time and it’s never happened before.

Congrats to Duke and Wake Forest for a couple of nice 4-0 starts to the season. So nice it’s never happened before at the same time for both teams.  Dave Clawson and David Cutcliffe are in early contention along with Justin Fuente, and Dabo Swinney for ACC coach of the year. I’m hoping someone will …

Florida State’s season is in a heap of trouble.

A month ago Florida State entered the season as a national title contender. Even after the 24-7 loss to Alabama the Noles playoff hopes were not completely dashed. QB Deondre Francois suffered a season ending injury, a hurricane disjointed the schedule, and FSU went into their game with NC State having not played in a month. …

Virginia’s hammering of Boise State changes outlook for the season.

Each football weekend, I give you my reaction to handful of ACC games. I very rarely comment on games that I didn’t watch a good a portion of. Let me just say I wasn’t able to watch, but the final minutes of Virginia vs Boise State. I still had to write a game reaction, because …
