HokieGuru’s Reflection on Seth Greenberg’s Tenure at Virginia Tech

I’m sure you know by now that former Virginia Tech assistant James Johnson has been named the new head coach for the Hokies. That said it’s a good time to look back on the tenure of former head man Seth Greenberg. Our resident Virginia Tech expert @HokieGuru does just that in a well-written personal account on the legacy …

Articles from around the ACC Blogosphere April 24, 2012

The big news this week is the firing of Seth Greenberg at Virginia Tech. That means we have to check in with Hokie blogger GobblerCountry. Whether you agree with the firingor not GobblerCountry says the “how” the termination was done was inexcusable. When your rivals at Virginia blog Streaking the Lawn are saying basically the same thing, …

Seth Greenberg: College basketball’s version of Chan Gailey is fired.

Nobody follows Virginia Tech sports like our contributing writer @HokieGuru. Later this week he will write an in depth article discussing the firing Hokie basketball coach Seth Greenberg. As an outsider to the program, I have a few thoughts on what happened today. I know Virginia Tech AD Jim Weaver said it had nothing to …

ACC Spring Games and ACC Championships

Sorry just a short post for tonight… Had some things going on this weekend that kept me from following the sports world the way I normally do. That said we’ll resume regular blogging tomorrow. In the meantime there were several ACC Spring games played on Saturday.  You can check out a summary of the games at theACC.com’s …

Just how important is the ACC’s upcoming TV Deal?

I don’t think anyone will argue that the upcoming deal is very important to the future of the ACC, but I believe it’s more than just important. It might just mean entire future of the ACC as we currently know it. How did I come to this conclusion? Well, recently I had a lively conversation …

Ranking the ACC Basketball Coaches

I’m kind of Petrinoed out at the moment. I think the rest of internet has it pretty well covered. Bold move by Arkansas, it showed that some schools are more interested in the integrity of their programs than just winning footballs games. Now ask the question again if the Razorbacks go 7-6. I don’t envy Arkansas’s AD Jeff Long… he …

Articles from around the ACC Blogosphere April 9, 2012

The top story of the week for the ACC Blogger’s has to been Boston College’s National Title in Hockey. I think Brad Brownell did a credible job …

Ranking the last 10 College Basketball National Title Teams.

Kentucky’s recent national championship victory raised some questions about just how good was this Wildcat team. Could they beat the 2003 Connecticut team featuring Emeka Okafor or the Tyler Hansbrough led 2009 North Carolina team? Certainly Anthony Davis is one of the best freshman defensive big men I’ve ever seen. Of course we’ll never know …

NCAA Tournament 2012: Do you miss the mid-majors not being in the Final 4?

This year the Final 4 will be made up with 4 schools from traditional major-conferences. We have College Basketball BlueBloods Kentucky, Louisville, Kansas and Ohio State. There is not a George Mason, Butler or VCU this year. In fact there weren’t any mid-majors in the Elite 8, and only 2 (Ohio and Xavier) in the …

How Frank Martin’s hiring at South Carolina could affect the ACC.

There was a hiring move this week that frankly floored me and that I think has farther reaching implications than may appear on the surface. Implications that I discussed  with FSU Fan @saintwarrick and Georgia Tech fan @younglefhander on twitter. South Carolina lured away Kansas State head basketball coach Frank Martin to coach in Columbia. …
