What should be the ACC’s top priority over the next 2-3 years?

I’m on the road a good bit this week so posting for a few days will be limited and entries pretty short. That said one of the topics I’ve seen being asked since the ACC signed their GOR was what should be the priority the next couple of years? The GOR was great and certainly …

So why did ESPN agree to a new TV deal and a likely conference network with the ACC?

Plenty has been written the last few days about the ACC and their new GOR deal.  The reasons for the ACC doing this are obvious… to provide and prove the stability conference. Without ESPN though, I don’t believe a GOR is possible. As we’ve said, before the ACC schools all committed to a long term agreement, …

2013 NFL Draft illustrates what is right and wrong with the ACC.

When you look at the NFL draft for the ACC it’s very telling. The ACC had the 2nd most NFL picks of any conference with 31. The SEC led the way with a whopping 63. For the ACC though that gives them the 2nd most NFL picks of any conference over the last 3 years, …

ACC Games in Europe… For or Against?

Friday a story appeared on CBS Sportsline that the ACC is considering playing game in Europe.  My first reaction was WHUT THE? Then I remembered the Pac 12 was bouncing around the idea of playing in China, that Virginia and Oregon had already discussed the possibility of playing a football game Europe, and Notre Dame and …

Details emerge how John Swofford got Florida State to sign the Grant of Rights.

On Monday we said it was time to give John Swofford his due in securing the ACC’s future.  Depending on who you ask either John Swofford pulled the proverbial rabbit out of hat that saved an ACC that was weeks from imploding or the other train of thought, and the one I believed,  that nobody was …

With a Grant of Rights in hand and the ACC’s future secure, it is time to give John Swofford his due.

Monday it was announced the ACC’s 15 future schools had signed a Grant of Rights. This effectively ends any further discussion of an ACC team leaving for the duration of the ACC’s television contract that runs through 2027. You can find the official announcement at theACC.com.  For me as a fan of Georgia Tech and Clemson, …

How the finalized 5 game football scheduling agreement with Notre Dame benefits the ACC.

On Friday the ACC released the future Notre Dame and ACC football schedule for the 2014-2016 seasons.   Wasn’t it only a few months ago that critics of the partial membership deal said Notre Dame would never agree to such a deal, or that the Irish would create their own schedule? Yea about that… Considering …

Way too Absurdly Early Pre-Season College Basketball Rankings for 2013-2014.

Louisville is your 2013 National Champions, so obviously the question is who will win the 2014 National Title. First let me say I went to the National Title game Monday, and it was well worth the 2 hour drive from South Carolina to attend. It was a fantastic game, though my Michigan grad buddy, left …
