Georgia Tech will face Syracuse in their most important game in five years.

Georgia Tech on Saturday was overwhelmed, overmatched, and just outplayed by Clemson in an ugly 42-21 loss. That said as a 14-point underdog even if the Jackets had played better, it was unlikely that they were going to knock off a surging Clemson that’s finally playing like many predicted in the pre-season. The Yellow Jackets …

Don’t look now but NC State is surging.

I kind of have a rule when I post articles about ACC football games. I don’t write articles about games unless I’ve watched at least half of them. I like to see the game flow, and how teams respond in certain situations. I’m breaking that rule for NC State after their 26-6 win over Wake …

Swinney getting Clemson to play it’s best football of season in November.

Two weeks ago Clemson sat 4-4 with a top-15 Notre Dame coming to town. There was serious talk of Clemson missing a bowl game. Since then Clemson beat Notre Dame 31-23 down multiple starters, and then thumped Georgia Tech in a not as close as the score indicates 42-21 game. Where Dabo Swinney was criticized …

Well here we are on the first Friday of the college basketball season, and we can already draw some conclusions from what happened Friday night. In 7 words, we know about three ACC teams – Duke is exposed, Louisville is still awful, Virginia flexes Duke vs Arizona was basically a regional final in early November. …

ACC is the only P6 conference without a basketball loss

It’s a subtle thing early, but the ACC is the only P6 basketball conference without a loss so far. That’s a 16-0 start. Why does it matter with the season just starting? Last year the ACC and in particular Louisville and Florida State took a ton of early-year non-conference that torpedoed the metrics of the …

The ACC’s three biggest questions of week 11

We ask the three biggest ACC football question marks of that week. Here we go for Week 10. Can North Carolina turn the corner against Duke?  North Carolina is back in the top 25 after beating Campbell. People want to believe in North Carolina, but I still can’t get past the Virginia loss at home, …

Is Georgia Tech developing their future identity under Brent Key?

All season Georgia Tech had been noted for their erratic play. They beat teams they shouldn’t. They lost to teams they should have beaten. Teams with that kind of inconsistency usually lack an identity. Brent Key has to build that identity for Georgia Tech to start truly turning the corner as a program. I think …

Clemson’s defense and run game open a year full of frustration on Notre Dame

Last week I said Clemson had become a bad football team,  and at the time of the posting they were. Sitting at 4-4 (2-4), that is a mediocre team record. Clemson had #15 Notre Dame coming to town, and ravaged by injury they had a 4-5 record staring them right in the face. The Tigers …

Quick thoughts on the new ACC football Schedule

Integrating SMU, Cal, and Stanford into the ACC Football schedule was never going to be easy, but in the end I think the ACC did a reasonable job of maintaining some of the rivalry games on a yearly basis while minimizing travel as much as possible. The other thing I like is every graduating class …
