ACC’s Heisman Chances look a little slim for 2018

If sportsbettingdime.com’s early 2018 Heisman Trophy odds are to be believed, next year won’t see the third ACC winner in the last six years. FSU’s Jameis Winston and Louisville’s Lamar Jackson won the award in 2013 and 2016, respectively, but heading into 2018, the top ACC candidate is Clemson’s senior QB, Kelly Bryant, at 25/1, …

ACC fans won’t have to suffer with Blackout problems of their favorite teams much longer.

Today a good friend of the blog @KilroyFSU, wanted to watched his Florida State Seminoles play the Louisville Cardinals in men’s basketball. He was in Jacksonville, Florida.  Getting a bit concerned that this hotel in Jacksonville doesn’t have channel 4 which is where I think the FSU-Louisville game will be on. — KilroyFSU (@KilroyFSU) January 11, …

Top 10 Non-Power Five Conference College Football Teams of All Time

Due to a raging head cold for me, this will be a short post for tonight. Central Florida’s great season had many of us thinking, where did that season rank with other non-power Five teams of All Time? Athlon Sports ranks them in a pretty good list.   Make sure you follow the All Sports Discussion …

Lamar Jackson leaves Louisville as one of the best ACC players ever.

Not surprisingly Louisville QB Lamar Jackson has decided to forgo his senior season at Louisville and turn pro. He will leave Louisville and the ACC as one of the best players the conference has ever seen. Here are some the Louisville records the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner will leave with. Lamar Jackson leaves Louisville with …

The nightmare week for Georgia Tech fans : Roll Tide!

I don’t live in the state of Georgia currently, but I feel for my fellow Georgia Tech fans there. I’ve live in Georgia, and during normal times, it’s practically unbearable how much coverage the Bulldogs get in the state. They get many of the best HS players, sidewalk fans come out of no where. Even …

Taking Stock of ACC football after uneven 2017 season.

After a historic 2016 season that had an ACC team (Clemson) win the national title, Florida State win the Orange Bowl, and a 9-3 bowl record, there was only way to go and it was down. As I predicted last year, for the ACC to remain at the top of college football was unsustainable.  If fact …

Let Central Florida have their National Championship fun.

Central Florida just completed the greatest season in their football program’s history. They went 13-0 after beating Auburn 34-27 in the Chick-fil-A bowl, who by the way defeated both teams Alabama\Georgia who are playing the national title game. The Golden Knights are the only undefeated untied  team in FBS football. Does Central Florida have an …

ACC Bubble Analysis for January 2, 2017

This is going to be a weekly article, where I seed the ACC teams and where I think they’d should be placed if the tournament started the same day as my posting. In my ranking system, any RPI top (100) win is a good win and any RPI top (50) obviously worth more. Any losses …

Alabama beats Clemson, but Tigers built for multiple playoff runs.

The rubber match between Alabama and Clemson turned into semi-mismatch Monday night. While Clemson’s defense basically gave a heroic effort limiting Alabama to 17 points despite the Tide starting the majority of their drives near midfield, the Tiger offense was a trainwreck. From the gameplan that started too conservative and was a mess throughout, to …

Miami has season to build on, but lost Orange Bowl due to sloppy play.

Miami went 10-3 and will have a top 15 season. They went to the ACC Championship game, and won the ACC Coastal Division. All nice results in 2017, and a huge improvement over the Al Golden era. Mark Richt has done exactly what I thought he would do at Miami. He made them better. I …

Louisville’s disappointing season ends with disappointing bowl loss.

If there was one ACC Bowl game, that I was prepared to call a lock it was Louisville vs Mississippi State. The Bulldogs lost their head coach, and their starting QB. When QB Nick Fitzpatrick went down against Ole Miss, their offense went south and the Bulldogs lost to their rival. Mississippi State entered the …

NC State’s patience with Dave Doeren results in 9 win 2017, a bowl victory, and a top 25 team.

I’ll be the first to admit that I wasn’t wasn’t on the Dave Doeren bandwagon. You win 9 ACC games in your first 4 seasons, and understandably questions should and will be raised. Something happened just over a year. Sitting at 5-6 and headed to play rival UNC in Chapel Hill, the hotseat was about …

Wake Forest seizes opportunity for special season with bowl win over Texas A&M.

At one point in the season Wake Forest was 7-4, with 2 games left in the season. If the Deacs could have a 8 or 9 win season, it would open eyes around the country. 7-6 year? Wake Forest has been there and done that. If you ask head coach Dave Clawson, he was looking …

Virginia Tech suffers bowl loss to Oklahoma State, but program still headed in right direction.

Virginia Tech held Mason Rudolph and a prolific Oklahoma State offense to it’s second lowest point total of the season. The Hokies rushed for 248 yards and out-gained the Cowboys 506 to 471, but still found a way to lose the game. It was pretty simply what happened. The Hokies were mistake prone, Oklahoma State …
