ACC Basketball Power Rankings (February 2, 2023)

ACC Team of the Week : Pittsburgh for a 2-0 week with wins over Miami and North Carolina

NET Rankings are from – https://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2022/net

15. Georgia Tech (7-14, 1-11) NET Ranking 231

Last Week: 14

Georgia Tech might have more overall wins than Louisville, but they lost to the Cardinals when they played this week. Josh Pastner is making the choice to fire him real easy. NC State will destroy them, but maybe Notre Dame is a chance to win a 2nd ACC game.

14. Louisville (3-19, 1-10) NET Ranking 329

Last Week: 15

Louisville already took care of Georgia Tech for their first ACC win. Could FSU be a second?

13. Notre Dame (10-12, 2-9) NET Ranking 186

Last Week: 13

Notre Dame’s only two wins this calendar are Georgia Tech and Louisville. That’s all you need to know in Mike Brey’s final season.

12. Florida State (7-16, 5-7) NET Ranking 211

Last Week: 12

Florida State got plastered by NC State and has lost three games in a row. Will they be Louisville’s 2nd ACC win?

11. Boston College (11-12, 5-7) NET Ranking 178

Last Week: 12

Look who’s won 3 of their last 4 including beating league leader Clemson. BC gets Syracuse at home then head to Virginia Tech.

10. Virginia Tech (13-9, 3-8) NET Ranking 54

Last Week: 10

Virginia Tech is better than their record, but they have so much ground to make up. If they could sweep Virginia and BC this week there’s still time to save the season.

9. Syracuse (13-10, 6-6) NET Ranking 102

Last week: 9

When the only team you beat in your last 5 games is Georgia Tech, you’ve got a problem. That’s where Syracuse is. The Cuse needs to get going with a sweep this week of Boston College and Florida State.

8. Wake Forest (14-9, 6-6) NET Ranking 72

Last Week: 8

Four losses in a row have sunk Wake Forest’s NCAA chances for the time being. If they lose to Notre Dame and UNC this week the Deacs realistic NCAA chances will be over.

7. North Carolina (15-7, 7-4) NET Ranking 43

Last Week: 4

North Carolina won 4 in a row then flopped at home against Pittsburgh. UNC now goes to Duke and Wake Forest. If they lose both they will be very much on the bubble.

6. Clemson (18-5, 10-2) NET Ranking 63

Last Week: 2

You can’t lose to Boston College. You just can’t. Now Clemson has tremendous pressure to split with Miami and UNC.

5. NC State (18-5, 8-4) NET Ranking 38

Last Week: 7

NC State keeps moving up these rankings. Could they actually be the ACC’s 2nd best team? The game with Virginia will be a lot of fun.

4. Pittsburgh (16-7, 9-3) NET Ranking 59

Last week:  6

Pittsburgh recovered from the bad FSU loss at home to win 3 games in a row including at UNC. With Louisville this week, they may make it 4 in a row.

3. Miami (17-5, 8-4) NET Ranking 40

Last Week: 3

Miami’s inability to play consistent defense keeps the Canes from the team they could be. A road game at Clemson then a home game with Duke make for a huge week.

2. Duke (16-6, 7-4) NET Ranking 22

Last Week: 5

With UNC and Miami this week, Duke could take off or crash this week.

1. Virginia  (17-3, 9-2) NET Ranking 14

Last Week: 1

Virginia is the one ACC team playing for a top 2 NCAA seed. This is one of Tony Bennett’s best offensive teams. A game at Virginia Tech and then red-hot NC State make for a tough week.
