Louisville and Notre Dame Might Have The Entire Sports TV Center Stage on February 16

Good morning, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.   We hope you are doing well on this Superbowl Sunday!

In preparation for our weekly ACC sports podcast with @talkinaccsports and I (@allsportsdacc), I was reviewing next week’s slate of ACC men’s basketball.  On the evening of February 16, 2025, the ACC might have the nation’s center sports stage.

In looking at the schedule, here’s what I saw for men’s basketball on February 16, 2025 (I also looked at women’s basketball):

  • In the 7 PM EST hour, a 12-11 Rutgers team takes on a 16-8 Oregon Ducks team.  If you’re a Louisville fan, you would like to see the Ducks take a loss, of course, however, this not a bubble type post where we are analyzing teams chances for the NCAA tournament.  This game is on FS1.
  • There is a good women’s basketball game on FS1 at 9 PM EST.  As of this writing, #20 Michigan State goes on the road to #1 – and undefeated – UCLA.  This game is on the Big Ten Network.

But there’s the deal.  The ACC owns the 8 PM EST hour – and it comes with two teams that have big brands – Louisville and Notre Dame.  Notre Dame at 10-13 is not as good as many people thought they would be this year – but they are getting better as the season rolls along.  As of this writing (and I’ll update it later today if there are ranking changes), Louisville is 18-6 and right now is a lock for the NCAA tournament (the Cards could be ranked coming into this matchup).  But I would argue that this is a big stage for Louisville (The nation can see whether Louisville has turned a corner or not.  Make no mistake – this is a tricky road match up for Louisville.  Notre Dame plays like an old, physical Big East team.  The Irish would be happy with 50 possessions.).

Louisville and Notre Dame might own the nation’s February 16, 2025 center sports stage on the ACC Network – and it’s about time that the ACC Network was used like this.
