Five Things I like about the 2025 ACC Football Schedule

The 2025 ACC Football schedule was released yesterday. As we do each year, we will tell you what we like about it, and later what we don’t like about the schedule.

Georgia Tech vs Georgia – November 28, 2025

Last year’s Georgia Tech vs Georgia game was the highest-rated regular season matchup of the year that had an ACC team. It was on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Anything that has an exclusive window for an ACC team is a good thing.

This is likely to be a primetime ABC game like last year, which means tremendous national exposure for Georgia Tech.

Labor Day Weekend National TV Games

I said this last year, and it remains true.

“ESPN always gets criticized for not showcasing the ACC vs the other conferences they televise. Most of it deserved criticism too, but not on Labor Day weekend. This is the one weekend of the football season that ESPN treats the ACC right.”

Labor Day has TCU at UNC. Great move to get that and Bill Belichek in an exclusive window. That Sunday has Notre Dame at Miami, and South Carolina vs Virgina Tech. Then Saturday high profile games of LSU vs Clemson, FSU vs Alabama, Syracuse vs Tennessee, and Georgia Tech vs Colorado. Smart scheduling and ESPN treating the ACC well during the Labor Day is going to have the ACC with a ton of eyes on it that weekend.

Miami vs Notre Dame – August 31, 2025

The last time Miami and Notre Dame played was in 2017. It sure seems like Notre Dame rotating through their ACC schedule would have had them play Miami a little more frequently. They are playing this year, and it will be a Sunday night ABC matchup.

Miami is coming off a top 15 season, and Notre Dame just played in the national title game. The Canes made a statement when they rolled into the Swamp and destroyed Florida. They can make an even bigger one if they beat Notre Dame, and if they beat Florida a couple of weeks after that, they’ll be ranked in the top 5.

Clemson vs LSU – August 30, 2025

Clemson used to beat highly ranked SEC teams like clockwork, but those days are long gone. Clemson will enter 2025 with as much optimism as they have had in years. Cade Klubnik returns at QB, the wide receivers will be good, and the game will be at Clemson.

The QB matchup with Garrett Nussmeier and Klubnik might be the best one you’ll see all year. When Clemson beat LSU in the 2012 Chick Fila Bowl it marked the true beginning of Clemson being an elite program. A win year could be the beginning of a second run for the Tigers. Last year losing to Georgia seemed inevitable for Clemson, but this feels much more like an opportunity.

Virginia vs NC State – September 6, 2025

Throw out all logic when it comes to realignment and bloated conferences, so why shouldn’t Virginia vs NC State be a non-conference game? Should Virginia and NC State be a regular conference game, sure but with these giant conferences teams don’t meet as often as they should. Good for Virginia and NC State to just take things into their own hands and meet up even if it’s a non-conference game.

You know what more schools across the country should do it.
