Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans. Just a really quick post here – and we’re using an old photo (as it’s the only one I could find where I could attribute a photo credit): Shout out to @TheSamAcho, who is quickly becoming an outstanding @ESPNCFB studio and in-game analyst – he is multi-talented.
Sam Acho came to ESPN as someone who played college football at the University of Texas – and also played for four years as a linebacker with the Arizona Cardinals. But Acho was the definition of a student athlete (I’m sure his parents told him that he had to bust his ass in the classroom – I’ve known several African families who preach that education is the key to success):
Acho graduated from the business honors program at UT’s McCombs School of Business with a double major in business honors and marketing. He received his MBA at Arizona State’s Thunderbird School of Global Management and is the founder and president of Athletes for Justice, an organization that unites professional and everyday athletes globally to fight injustice. He serves as an ambassador for the International Justice Mission and is also the vice president of Living Hope Christian Ministries, which provides aid to Nigeria through medical mission trips.
And Acho has been involved in several medical missionary trips.
Acho, this year, has been all over the TV for ESPN. On ESPN2, he’s been a studio analyst – and his insights on defense are incredible. Acho’s been to Fargo a couple of times this year to call the North Dakota State FCS playoff football games. Bison fans love him. He’s also been a @CFBPlayoff studio analyst and college football bowl games analyst, too. He’s sort of been ESPN’s utility player – because I think they have big things in store for him. He’s smart, educated, engaging, friendly, and polite – I think his co-workers would say that he probably brings joy to a room – just looks happy pretty much all of the time.
Expect big things from Sam Acho.
