A Rare Moment of Sanity on the @PatMcAfeeShow

Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.

I know you are all looking forward to the @CFBPlayoff title tonight.  The pick?  I have Ohio State over Notre Dame.  The Buckeyes have been running through teams like a lawnmower blitzing the grass.  Both @TalkinACCSports and I would like to see Notre Dame win instead.

So, today, I was watching the @PatMcAfeeShow today and, Nick Saban, the former Alabama head football coach – now a studio analyst for @CollegeGameDay was a guest on the show.  He mentioned that he was concerned about college football’s competitive balance.  Saban stated that some teams can spend over $30 million on their football program, while others can only spend $3 million.  He stated that something needs to be done to ensure the sport has a more level playing field.  See my tweet cap below:

Towards the end of the show, @PatMcAfeeShow reported that he agreed in full force with Nick Saban – that the competitive balance does indeed need to be restored.  Herein, though, lies the complete hypocrisy of @ESPNCFB.  ESPN and the Big Ten Network, of which a large ownership lies with Fox Corporation, are significantly responsible for the revenue disparities of major college football programs.  ESPN established the @SECNetwork, which provides substantial revenue distributions to SEC programs – and these revenues dwarf what ESPN’s other venture, the @ACCNetwork, provides in revenue distributions to ACC teams.

You say you want to restore competitive balance, Nick Saban and @PatMcAfeeShow?  Talk to the ESPN lawyers – and lobby them to immediately redo the @ACCNetwork revenue distribution contract so that it’s on par with the @SECNetwork.  Better yet, make sure that both the @ACCNetwork and @SECNetwork – are on par with the Big 10 Network revenue distributions.

Thanks for listening to my TEDTalk.
