ACC Teams of Bowl Season: Louisville and Syracuse for their bowl wins.
17. Florida State (2-10)
Last Week: 17
You can only hope the humiliation of this past year, will motivate the FSU to be the program it can be. It will never go lower.
16. Stanford (3-9)
Last Week: 16
How in the world did Stanford beat Louisville and Syracuse? How is Troy Taylor still head coach?
15. Wake Forest (4-8)
Last Week: 15
Dave Clawson had enough of things at Wake Forest. Jake Dickert is in, and I think it’s a good hire for the Deacs.
14. Virginia (5-7)
Last Week: 14
Tony Elliot must get Virginia to a bowl game next year or he is finished.
13. North Carolina (6-7)
Last Week: 13
Bill Belichick was likely disgusted with what he saw in UNC’s bowl loss to UCONN. I expect Deion Sanders like turnover in the roster.
12. Virginia Tech (6-7)
Last Week: 12
Virginia Tech was just another ACC team that was flat in their bowl game. This was against Minnesota. Frustration is growing with Brent Pry.
11. California (6-7)
Last Week: 11
UNLV was always a bad matchup for Cal. The Bears despite some good moments this year haven’t had a winning season since 2019. Justin Wilcox shouldn’t get too comfortable.
10. NC State (6-7)
East Carolina treated the bowl game with NC State like the Super Bowl. NC State just wanted the game to be over and played like it. Dave Doeren has some heat going into next year.
Last Week: 10
9. Pitt (7-6)
Last week: 9
Pittsburgh was a very good team through the first half of the season of the season, and very bad one through the second half. It’s that simple. The bowl loss to Toledo was just icing on the cake.
8. Boston College (7-6)
Last Week: 8
Boston College tried to make a late comeback against Nebraska but still lost 20-15. Bill O’Brien did some good things in year 1 at BC.
7. Georgia Tech (7-6)
Last Week : 7
I was a little surprised Georgia Tech came out largely flat performance against Vanderbilt. I expected more, but with QB Haynes King back, Georgia Tech could be set up for a big season in 2025.
6. Duke (9-4)
Last Week: 5
Duke was completely overmatched in their bowl game with Ole Miss. Nobody can take away a 9 win season though in Manny Diaz’s first season in Durham.
5. Louisville (9-4)
Last Week: 6
Louisville came up with an inspired bowl win over Washington. Down more than 15 players, Louisville still came through for their 9th win. They deserve a top-25 finish to the season.
4. Miami (10-3)
Last Week: 4
Miami should have beat Iowa State in their bowl game. They had them beat, but QB Cam Ward sitting forced the Canes to rely on their defense and you knew that wasn’t work. Miami lost 3 of their last 4 games.
3. Syracuse (10-3)
Last week: 3
Syracuse finished off a magical 10-win season by knocking off Washington State in the Holiday Bowl. Fran Brown just did a wonderful job in his first year. Now the Orange wait if QB Kyle McCord can return.
2. SMU (11-3)
Last Week: 2
I sure would have liked to see QB Kevin Jennings even play an average game in their playoff game. Jennings had the nightmare of all games against Penn State.
1. Clemson (10-4)
Last Week: 1
Clemson was your ACC Champion so I’m not moving them off the top of the list. Against Texas QB Cade Klubink and that offense sliced up the Longhorns. Too bad the defense was a no show as it was most of the year, but with DC Wes Goodwin done, Clemson can move forward.
