We’ll start adding NET and RPI rankings once there are enough data points.
18. Miami (4-7, 0-1)
Last Week: 18
Miami won their first game in a month by beating Presbyterian. Could Mt. Saint Mary’s make it two wins in a row?
17. Georgia Tech (4-6, 0-1)
Last Week: 16
Georgia Tech’s best win this year is over 2-8 Charleston Southern. That’s all you need to know. UMBC is this week, and then they face an elite Duke team.
16. Virginia Tech (5-6, 0-1)
Last Week: 17
Virginia Tech did manage to beat North Carolina A&T and Navy this week. It’s not saying much, but Ws are Ws. St. Joseph’s is this week.
15. Syracuse (5-5, 0-1)
Last Week: 15
When you are 1-5 against the Q1, Q2, Q3 opponents on your schedule like Syracuse it will probably be a long season. Could they surprise Maryland this week?
14. Notre Dame (6-5, 1-0)
Last Week : 14
Notre Dame has LeMoyne this week before they get into conference play. They didn’t do anything of note during the OOC portion of their schedule except lose several close games.
13. Boston College (7-4, 0-1)
Last Week: 13
Boston College actually has a Q1 win over Boise State. SMU is a big game this Saturday.
12. California (7-4, 0-1)
Last Week: 12
Cal’s loss to Cornell was devastating, but if they beat San Diego State they could make up for it.
11. Florida State (8-3, 0-1)
Last Week: 11
Florida State’s 8-3 record doesn’t have a single Q1 or Q2 win. Winthrop and Louisville are this week, and the Noles need a sweep.
10. Virginia (6-4, 0-1)
Last Week: 10
Virginia has a massive opportunity this week getting Memphis at home. If they sweep Memphis and American this week they will fly up the rankings.
9. NC State (7-4, 1-0)
Last week: 9
NC State isn’t a bad team, but without a Q1 or Q2 win, they’ll 13 or 14 ACC wins to get on the bubble. They play Rider this week.
8. Louisville (6-5, 0-1)
Last Week: 8
Louisville had a game effort at Kentucky, but at 6-5 they need to make a move. A win at FSU would be a good start.
7. Stanford (8-2, 1-0)
Last Week: 7
Stanford should beat Merrimack, but we’ll find where Stanford really is when they play a good Oregon team.

6. UNC (6-4, 1-0)
Last Week: 5
I think UNC is a NCAA-caliber team, and the win over Dayton looks better and better. If UNC could somehow get a split between FLorida and UCLA or better yet a sweep, the Heels would be back on track.
5. Wake Forest (8-3, 1-0)
Last week: 3
Wake Forest has James Madison and a game at Clemson this week. Clemson will be one of the few opportunities for a quality win in the ACC this year.
4. SMU (9-2, 1-0)
Last Week: 6
The ACC has so few decent OOC wins, that somebody gets one we notice. SMU got a nice 10 point win over LSU this weekend, and that’s going to move you up. Don’t slip up at BC now.
3. Pittsburgh (9-2, 1-0)
Last Week: 4
Pittsburgh should enter conference play 10-2 after facing Sam Houston State. Other than the blow out at Mississippi State it was a good OOC portion of the season for the Panthers.
2. Clemson (9-2, 1-0)
Last Week: 2
Clemson should have picked up another strong OOC win, but blew a 5 point lead at home to Memphis with under 60 seconds. Now they have to win at South Carolina to avoid back-to-back losses. Wake Forest is also this week.
1. Duke (8-2, 1-0)
Last Week: 1
Duke is going to steamroll the ACC this year, and will spend most of the season playing for a number 1 or number 2 national seed.
